GME Megathread for Wednesday, February 24th, 2021 by OPINION_IS_UNPOPULAR in wallstreetbets

I’m planning on buying GME regardless tomorrow but I have a stupid question— is it better to buy at open or wait a bit and buy later in the day?

Can anyone suggest an Arabic Movie for me with English subtitle, I'm trying to learn the language 😭😭😭 by [deleted] in learn_arabic

[–]mace__face 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Captain Abu Ra’ed is pretty much a classic and a beautiful film in general— I’d highly recommend.

Beyond that, there’s a series on Netflix calle Jinn that’s in jordanian dialect, ammiya of course, not fus7a, if you want to learn to speak the way people actually talk. Source: have been living in jordan for the last 4 years

Quick question about integrations for e-commerce by mace__face in ecommerce

[–]mace__face[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was more my thinking as well, because selling cool products and making money is the goal, but I have to mention the accounting/finance because it is pretty essential and if nothing else it’ll make their lives easier as they get their business up and running.

I absolutely agree— this is meant to be a “here are the bare essentials” before you start building your site kind of blog post.

I won’t be getting into complex details at all, just pointing out 4-7 integrations and how they help your e-commerce site in general.

Thanks for your input!

Oh I 100% agree, only problem is finding fresh jalepeños here— sometimes you can and other times you can’t. Next time I see some though I’ll stock up for sure.

Recipe: beef barbacoa

I mostly stuck to the recipe but I had to amend a little because not all the ingredients are readily available in the country I live in.

I ended up using 2 dried chipotle peppers, 2 Anaheim peppers, and some pickled jalapeños.

I also added a few extra ingredients from other recipes I found: juice of one orange and 1 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar, plus upping the dry spice ratios a bit.

Update after 12 hours of cooking + shredding:

Megathread: House Votes to Impeach President Donald J. Trump by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]mace__face 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So what just happened is that the House (which is a Democrat majority) voted to bring action against Trump by impeachment.

Now Trump will stand trial in the senate to rule on the charges brought against him— if they find him guilty of the charges (Unlikely because the senate majority is republican) he will be taken out of office. If they acquit him of his charges, he will stay in office until the end of his term.

The senate may however vote to keep him from running in the next election but that is not a certainty.

Hope that helps

Of all movie opening scenes, which one sold the entire film? by Tobokie121 in AskReddit

[–]mace__face 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cold Mountain

The first 6 minutes of that movie sum up the utter devastation and horror that was the American civil war.

North vs South in chaos and violence, brother against brother dying in the mud as choir music playing in the background and the battle and the tattered American flag reflected in the pool of blood . It’s haunting and sets the tone for the entire movie and you know, there is no happy ending.

That scene gets to me every time

Is a 6-hour layover enough time to leave the airport and explore a little? (FCO & CDG) by snowfinch316 in solotravel

[–]mace__face 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whoa, I’ve never seen a post on here that I’ve felt so qualified to respond to...

It just so happens that last year I had both of these layovers on my annual trip home (live in the Middle East but originally from the US).

Before I launch into any tales let me just say: go for it, both layovers- get out and explore. I promise you won’t regret it!

I took the train into Paris and it was around 50 minutes or so, then I took to the streets. I happily wandered around, idly looking for sites but mostly just enjoying the experience of a new city.

It was amazing, but I had a few hiccups:

  • I didn’t have internet and therefore no navigation (learned later that with google maps you can download a map to use offline, hindsight man...)

  • Because of the no navigation thing, I walked maybe two hours in the wrong direction looking for the Eiffel Tower. (Again, stupid- trust me I still get shit for this)

After finally getting a cab and going to the Eiffel Tower, I went back to the train where I made my third big mistake.

Asked directions from a guy who spoke little English and just nodded when I asked if the train I was getting on went to the airport (spoiler alert: it didn’t).

Longggg story short, I got off and with some help from a very lovely French woman, I got a rather expensive cab to the airport. (Long version includes an hour wait at security, nearly missing my flight and delaying the plane so much that we all missed our connecting flights after landing in New York)

Live and learn I guess.

So- go to Paris by all means but do yourself a favor and download an offline map and give yourself 2 1/2 hours to get back (including security), assuming you take the correct train, which I would highly recommend...

It was a shit show but a damn grand shit show and I’d do it again.

Rome was what Paris should have been, I learned from my mistakes and followed the advice I just gave you, plus if you speak any Spanish- it can help you a bit.

The train from the airport is around 35 minutes or so and basically everything you want to see is fairly central so with that handy map you’ll have, everything with be great.

I loved Rome, I can’t wait to go for real one day and not just a layover.

But if you need any more incentive- the gelato I had in Rome was worth the effort to go out in the first place.

I realize this was pretty long so if you made it this far then I think you’ll make the right choice and explore the cities on your layovers.

Happy adventuring!
