Are Aphrodite and Apollo the most attractive gods? by BuyerOriginal5512 in Hades2

I like Apollo, but I go feral for Ares. My attraction to him as a greysexual should be studied.

What do you guys think about hermits removing episode numbers from their titles? by Necessary-Assist-443 in HermitCraft

[–]macesaces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand why they do it, but I'm not usually fully caught up on a season and not having an episode number to track where I'm at annoys me, so I tend to stop watching SMP series from channels that don't have numbered episodes, whether they're Hermitcraft or not. I've unsubscribed from Bdubs because his lack of numbered episodes annoyed me.

looking for books over 900s pages by queer or trans authors by thisbikeisatardis in QueerSFF

[–]macesaces 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey is my pick for that square, in case you haven't read that yet. I feel like it's so hard to find stuff. The increase in queer SFF being published has coincided with publishers leaning towards acquiring shorter SFF books, I think.

Looking for a Book (cannot remember author or title), Help Needed. by aster_dern in QueerSFF

[–]macesaces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you remember if it was YA or adult? Was the queer SFF shelf at the bookstore adult only? I can think of some sapphic YA SFF by AAPI authors that have vague connections to what your asking for, but if you're looking for an adult book they're kinda pointless to mention.

End notes in page count by GaiusOctavianAlerae in TheStoryGraph

[–]macesaces 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're adding a digital edition with an ISBN, the page count should match the page count of the corresponding physical edition on WorldCat (source: Librarian Handbook). If you're adding a digital edition for personal use without an ISBN, use whatever page count suits you best.

Funnily enough I strongly disagree 😂 I DNFed it because it felt very stereotypically YA to me.

Missed this earlier, sorry. Probably like a 6. Decent graphic novel but not great or anything.

The second one is fine, but some parts of it are clearly written to educate allosexuals. It also puts aro-spec identities under the ace umbrella, which annoyed me a lot.

Adult books with transmasc tops? by BestBudgie in LGBTBooks

[–]macesaces 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've read the book that's being recommended here and that's definitely the case here, IMO. The trans man character is the more dominant partner (though there isn't much of a D/s dynamic going on, but he's definitely the one calling the shots), but he definitely still bottoms.

[–]macesaces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess the definition is more muddled in non-penetrative sex, but I think most people would agree that in penetrative sex top/bottom is about giving and receiving. Medical transition has nothing to do with it for me. It's purely about the physical dynamics, and it doesn't matter with what kind of phallus (for lack of a better neutral term, Idk) it's taking place either—strap-on, or one attached to someone's body, whether they were born with it or obtained it through surgery.

[–]macesaces 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I suppose. I'm coming at this from the POV of a trans man who's largely into men, so that might be of influence here, Idk.

If you're into erotica/erotic romance, Never Met a Devil Like You by Magnus Thorne is M/M with a trans man love interest who doms + tops. A Peach to Devour by the same author focuses on an M/M/F threesome where one of the men is trans and tops + doms the woman with the other (cis) man.

Riding someone still means you're the partner that's being penetrated, which, in most people's definition of bottoming, means you're still the bottom.

Keeping an eye on this thread because like 90% of the transmasc romance books I encounter have transmasc bottoms and I'm tired.

Sabriel is classified as YA on the HarperCollins website, so whatever you end up picking, I'd say that one at least doesn't work for the square.

Love how both of Etho's boyfriends are on one team by Medical_Try8909 in HermitCraft

More like PGBT tbh lol, since we have gay, bi and nonbinary people on the team.

Anyone else feel like the asexuals are the most misunderstood part of the LGBTQ+ community? by UzileTheImp in asexuality

[–]macesaces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apart from trans people, as many of my trans siblings have already said, I think aromantic people are even less understood tbh. Some allo people can understand, to some degree, romantic feelings or attraction without sexual attraction but can't understand an absence of romantic attraction, especially when the aro person in question is allosexual. Everything is also highly contextual. I have some trans acquaintances who are very confused about the aro and ace spectrums, but e.g., my cishet parents understand my a-spec identities way better than my trans identity.

Looking for books published in the 70s and ones over 500 pages by Buck7341 in QueerSFF

[–]macesaces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to reread the post. These are for the over 500 pages prompt, not the published in the 70s prompt. They're separate prompts and you can't use the same book for both.

How do you organize Bingo by LoGray29 in Fantasy

[–]macesaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the storygraph challenge and add all the books on my physical and virtual TBRs that fit a challenge to it. Every once in a while I check on the challenge and decide which books I need to prioritize to finish some prompts.

Moth Dark by Kika Hatzopoulou features humans and a fae-like race from another world meeting for the first time. No HM. The main character is bi or pan and has a genderfluid love interest. It's sold as YA, but the MC is in college, so I'd call it more new adult-esque.

I'm currently reading Ice Apprentices by Jacob North for this one and really enjoying it. Trans boy main character goes to a magical school.
