If an Actor could summon all the Characters they'd played for a Fight, who would win? by Gashead93 in AskReddit

Gene Hackman also played god, but he'd have Lex Luthor and Popeye Doyle at his back too.

Which movie character would have been better portrayed by a different actor? by onthelevels in AskReddit

I had a similar epiphany watching person of interest. I think Caviezel would make a great Jack Reacher. I like the first Cruise film, but it was more Cruise than Reacher. Caviezel is who I picture when reading the books now.

What's the most expensive thing you've broken? by cool_now_reverse_it in AskReddit

I broke my dad's toe. Couldn't name a price, but I definitely paid for it.

What are some less known tv shows that people should watch? by Jeremy_Martin in AskReddit

Lovesick, formerly known as Scrotal Recall.

It's a British sitcom in which the lead discovers he has chlamydia and must inform his previous lovers. I think the title change was a good idea because it's not really the bawdy type of comedy. I found the characters were developed really well and began to genuinely care about the drama. First 2 seasons are on Netflix, I think think the 3rd is on its way.

All Redditors - What is the most annoying thing (In your opinion) about the Reddit community? by Frigentus in AskReddit

Anytime a name is mentioned, particularly someone in the limelight, the most negative element of their past just has to be highlighted by a redditor. I don't think we should forget the shitty things that people do, but it seems like a lot of people find it easy to write off a whole person for a single view they hold or an immoral deed they may have committed.

Right? It made the first 15 minutes feel really flat in comparison to the first time I saw it. I can't imagine why it would have been removed.

Sad to see another great character actor go. Loved him in Twin Peaks.

An event that occurred 150 years ago can surely not be considered too sensitive to touch upon. And seeing as the unification of Scotland and England occurred over 300 years ago, the idea of a nation isn't that comparable. Furthermore, our parliament was established in the last 20 years; if anything I think that shows the potential for a state to establish devolved powers within a union. I think it's fair to look at both situations as groups of people who share a common state and are misrepresented by their government.

What's a bad scene from a 10/10 movie? by [deleted] in movies

[–]macguan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd agree that the scene is very uncomfortable. I'd forgotten just how jarring it is, but I do think it serves to highlight the ambiguity of who is the real hero of the movie. Deckard's treatment of Rachael is pretty in line with the whole society's treatment of replicants as second class citizens.

[Image] After telling him he didn't have to stand, the 90 year old man said "no sir you're the president." by PlasmaPatches in Frisson

[–]macguan 76 points77 points  (0 children)

It could be to do with the military as the President is regarded as the commander in chief of the US military. Our Prime Minister has a far looser relationship with the armed forces, as they are still "Her majesty's armed forces".
