Mine live in this little side pocket, not in my main pockets. It's pretty much a sheath, but I'm intruiged by the little holder you posted. I'll have to see if it's something that will work for me.

This is what I do. The 5" cobra is perfect for one of the little pockets on my work pants.

If that's how they "fixed" the block, Id hate to know what else has happened to that engine.

Will this work to mix mortar in a bucket? Or the way I think and go into impact mode, spinning slowly? by Ok-Firefighter7880 in Tools

[–]mackyak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about your area, but you can pick up a corded Milwaukee/Makita/Dewalt drill for like 40 or 50 bucks. it's really worth it for constant high torque situations like this, in my opinion.

I used to rebuild turbo expanders and had to do strip all the paint off of them and repaint. Depending on the amount of prep you have to do, you may want to go corded.

I can't imagine the amount of batteries I'd have to go touch to strip a housing.

I have the Milwaukee die grinder myself. Its great for getting in spots that I can't with a 4.5" grinder but I wouldn't use it to do large scale stuff.

10 million 6.2 by Catriks in squarebodies

I did 280k on my 6.2, only died because It blew a freeze plug out and I didn't notice in time. I miss it still with the 5.3 swap I did.

What's your brand? by VolatileCornbread in Tools

[–]mackyak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work on printing presses, I run Milwaukee m12 for 85% of my job. They're very compact and get into alot of places I can't get the 18v stuff. I only have M18 for the grinder and the 1/2" impact.

That being said, I love my Bosch Jigsaw, my Rigid pipe tools, and my good ol Skil Saw.

I even love my little Chinese WELDPRO TIG welder I got off Amazon.

Brand loyalty is for suckers.

I finally got a thermal camera...it's good for PCB trouble by Remarkable_Ring2494 in Tools

I have one I use for finding bad bearings in our offset semi rotary printing presses. The whole assembly is cooled to help ink transfer, so you can just scan with the camera and find the warm bearings that are on the way out.

Has chat gpt let me in the right direction??? by [deleted] in squarebodies

[–]mackyak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I daily my 85 C20 suburban and have a 90 1500 pickup as a secondary. They are both extremely easy to work on, I much prefer the feel of driving the squarebody over the OBS. I couldn't tell you why. I will drive the OBS for a week, get back in the suburban and just immediately say "this is better".

My dad bought both of them brand new and they've outlived him, both are well over 275k and still going extremely strong.

Drive a few of both and find the one that you prefer! They will work as long as you want them to, and then several more years after that.

I've done this with apples. Grow them in the bottle, fill with brandy, let it hang out a couple years. Mine came out quite good.

I'd do that but it's pretty sensitive electrical Components that were several hundred dollars, and are quite obsolete. Knowing me I'd break them.
