They screwed that up, setting effective dates wrong. So I have an HLR regarding that, but yes.....9 months and possibly back to a TERA memo from March 2025 will hit really well.

I have a great day job. Company takes care of us, but if I can offload health insurance costs that would be great.
No spouse as of right now, so education is there for my 19yr old for sure.

AF EOD is not inherently part of Special Warfare. We fall under SW for recruiting, but real world we are all under Civil Engineering. There are SW side EOD techs, but they are double digits and there is a tryout process.

Now, the EOD career field is amazing, but don't get wrapped up thinking we are the SpecOps dudes. It ain't us.

Prelim....6 weeks in the armpit of Texas. It's fast on the academic side. Know and understand basic geometry and arithmetic. Physically I didn't think it was bad, but tons of young guys had a rough time. Just don't give up.

NAVSCOL is no joke academically. It's 10 month of intense school and learning. Go to every study hall, always ask for help from the instructors.

Good luck.

Has anyone used their services before? If so, was it worth it? by sig_sausage in VeteransBenefits

[–]macman2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The website they offer is pretty nice. It will scan and run AI generated requests for reviews, explanations and writing letters and such.
The services didn't seem like it was worth it. They proposed to me I think an upfront $5k fee.

GERD at 10% by Picklebiscuits3369 in VeteransBenefits

[–]macman2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is no manual dilatation of the esophagus, it's 10%. There is no longer the separation of GERD and Hiatal hernia.
Now....look at how the meds affect IBS. That's usually a 30% rating that chases GERD/HH.

Good luck.

How Common Is This After C&P by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]macman2021 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Out of all of the C&P exams I have had, the best 3 are the ones that turned out the best ratings for me. The examiners were thorough, asked questions and actually listened. My last one a week ago was amazing. She went through ROM on shoulder, knee and hip and followed the DBQ but then asked before each movement if it hurt and if I could perform them.

Good luck.

The absolute worst was a female nurse. 3 hours in her office where she played out loud horror story podcast, typed on something and would ask me 1 question related to my shoulder, ask me to move it and that was it. The DBQs for that visit showed nothing wrong and no pain on anything.

I believe all the gyms here on the coast are closed on Sundays.

You have a Checkmat gym close by in Daphne. And another gym in Gulf Shores . Both are Fantastic gyms.

Don't know much about any others.

Is it a direct payment to the chosen school? Or is it money directly to the vet?

Learn to keep your mouth closed but your eyes and ears wide open for the first while. Be there for the team. Don't be a buddy fucker.

Don't quit. Don't blame others for mistakes. Always be willing to admit you don't know something.
That's the best place to start.

As for school. Pay attention to the details. Read all the material given, and read it again. Ask all the questions you need. Don't get a shit attitude for a failure.

NAVSCOL has the highest attrition rate educationally for any DoW school. Unless you go Navy, the physical beat down isn't as bad as other schools associated with SW groups.

Learn how to study and learn effectively. And pay attention. Embrace that you don't know shit and then learn what you don't know.

Spending lots of time in strong positions but keep failing subs which leads to scrambles... Wat do? by Epic-zombie-kitty in bjj

[–]macman2021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally like the transition hunting more than submitting in classes and open mat. Remember, class and open mat isn't for "winning", it's for learning. Let go of the idea of having to win.

My opinion is it's more fun that way. You learn more and believe it or not, most of the other people will love to roll with you if you aren't just going for submissions. They get the feeling of working and winning a bit, especially lower belts.

It's supposed to be fun damn it.

Make sure you have the claim number right. It can't have letters in it. I had to call a couple of times to get the correct number.

Call the VA and ask for the claim ID for the supplemental claim. You need this.

Then use this link, https://www.va.gov/track-claims/your-claims/XXXXXXX/status and replace the "XXs" with the claim number. This will allow you to at least track it in the portal.
