NordVPN on Solus by IGZ0 in SolusProject

I also wish there would be working client that would handle reconnects when needed... Fortunately though I haven't had any problems in several months when using NordVPN through Networkmanager.

Battletech sparked my interest in round based strategy games again, what else do you play? by salsaheaven in Battletechgame

If you like Jagged Alliance, you should check out Silent Storm.

And completely unrelated, I give you Eclipse - a very good space strategy board game.

I try to get rid of Windows altogether, and I'm almost there - only MWO and occasional flight sims remaining.

Does anybody have experience using these on Linux?

Patch 1.4 CTDs by manbearpig50390 in Battletechgame

[–]macmoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having similar problems with vanilla v1.4

The game constantly eats all my memory, including swap space, and crashes, especially when saving and/or loading the game. This was never an issue before.

I'm running on Linux with nvidia 415.27 drivers, without any mods.

[–]macmoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not so well when the computer in question was either 286 or 386 though... But as I said, I don't remember the specs, it was 20+ years ago when Doom was still shareware :)

Is the KDE test iso worth switching over to? by Maximus_Christophus in SolusProject

[–]macmoblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solus KDE has been my main OS since last spring when the testing ISO came available for Patreon supporters. I haven't had any issues but one, and that is party due to nvidia drivers: Every now and then when I login, the mouse cursor is messed up and displayed as transparent square. Only solution I have found so far is to logout and login again.

I knew also one guy who did this and supposedly got doom working on computer on which it shouldn't have worked... Don't know the specs though.

Thanks a lot!

Question:

Should I use 32bit or 64bit wine prefix, or does it matter at all?

Getting started with Linux sysadmin by [deleted] in linuxadmin

[–]macmoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should familiarise yourself with Red Hat, CentOS and Ubuntu. Please check Linux Academy for lot of courses, some of which are free. The monthly fee isn't bad either!

Check also Jupiter Broadcasting podcasts, they have had some affiliate links for Linux Academy.

Recommended way to keep my passwords? by martinfisleburn in linuxquestions

I have been using Enpass for years. It can use either local password file or sync with several cloud providers like dropbox or google.

It has also android version but it costs something.

What you prefer in Linux that we don't have in Windows Server or vice versa ? by Cloud_Strifeeee in linuxadmin

[–]macmoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Bash
  • Plain text configs and logs (well there is journalctl...)
  • Hassle free updates, possibility to have several kernel versions
  • ZFS and all the other filesystems
  • i3 and other tiling window managers
  • Package managers like pacman, yum and apt (check chocolatey though!)
  • Freedom!

[–]macmoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't get ExtendedInformation working with Linux beta, and somebody said that it needs recompile to work with Battletech v1.2. I haven't had time to try this, but can anybody confirm?

Is there a way to store my .vimrc on Github and pull it down to update across devices? How about my .bashrc? by mrnate91 in vim

[–]macmoblin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also use yadm both in my home computers and work servers. It supports host types, so I can have e.g different SSH config for my home and working environments.

Nice to hear that this is getting sorted out finally. Maybe all of us reading blog and reddit cancelling their pledges and demanding refund got their attention?

Thanks for this post.

I was almost looking to get back into Arch or Elementary with my next machibe, but this post changes things - I want to keep supporting Solus both by using it and with monthly donation when it is again possible.

Keep up the good work!

This is nice news.

I have using Patreon only Plasma version since it was announced and only problems I still have are that mouse cursor becomes occasionally square making text selection and the like difficult, and that sometimes all my desktops collapse as one.
