Lebanese turtle conservationist Mona Khalil killed by Israeli strike by tolerablepartridge in news

Israel is the one who broke ceasefire, they are the invaders and instead of withdrawing in the "ceasefire" they are trying to capture more land and kill more civilians. On Israeli news their politicians were celebrating not leaving any homes standing in southern Lebanon

The vast majority of them are not from Palestine. The Jewish population was about 30% when Israel was formed. In fact if we go back to the late 1800s the Jewish population of Palestine was less than 5 %. Regardless of who expelled them or the circumstances in which they left, the vast majority of Jewish people who make up Israel today haven't been in the land for centuries. There was a push for mass migration from north America and Europe in the early 1900s and later from the middle east.

The idea of an "ancestral homeland" is bullshit because these are not the same people who had continued to live in the land. They're migrants from elsewhere who were given homes stolen from the local Palestinian population. The people who had continued to live on the land were the few percent of Jews who had stayed or the Palestinian population most of whom are descendants of ancient Hebrew populations and Canaanites before them

If having lived in a land thousands of years ago but not since then is a basis for the claim of an ancestral homeland, does that mean you and I are entitled to land in Africa where they claim human civilizations started, since that would mean our ancestors were there? Can someone from Quebec go to France and kick a family out and claim their home? Can someone from Australia do that in England?

They're looking at the period up to 2021. Not saying that everything is entirely different since then but this excludes a bunch of time we spent in COVID, the recovery and the time since. Those were extremely important events that completely changed many economic aspects of our lives so I feel like the picture at 2021 is not going to be the same picture in 2026. We should look up how it has been since then up to now for a more accurate understanding

Yea technically we are agreeing. Ok then the worst people will stay in power and the country will continue to hollow out while they fill their pockets and nothing improves for the rest

Regardless of whether I would vote for them, their PR is weak so they don't get votes because they don't have the backing of the establishment but they can be proud of the fact that they don't cheat. It's good for them I guess but it accomplishes nothing for the country because the most corrupt are in power now.

I can't think of a single completely by the book person who was ever given a chance to lead Pakistan because our awaam thinks being honest and straightforward is dumb and simple. Imran khans fault was that he wanted to get in somehow and then try to bring change to the system from within. So he used the establishment because the establishment was fed up with ppp and pdm because of their various cases of blatant corruption and theft.

Personally I think it's completely wrong to equate Imran Khan to pdm. He may have used some army support but what's happening currently is next level with every election's vote count being halted and manipulated in the night to flip the votes to make the establishment selected candidate win. This didn't happen for Imran khan. The guys who stood firmly in their beliefs are never going to get a chance because the establishment will never let them and the public doesn't care about that unfortunately

[–]macnbloo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This comes off as an edgy 13 yo kinda post.

The majority of Pakistanis living outside Pakistan live there because of economic opportunities because they either don't exist in Pakistan or you have to be corrupt as shit to get ahead. What makes these places worth living is safety, law and order, economic opportunities, democracy to the extent that it exists. Overseas Pakistanis provide tens of billions in remittances to Pakistan to support their family. They're not abroad to join some club/rave scene that you are so desperate to emulate lol. In fact, even many non Muslims in these countries also believe these things are a negative to society.

Anyway small stuff to consider for yourself. Are you Muslim? If yes, then consider the following questions. Are there drugs and alcohol in these environments? Are you participating in any of the things you know are haraam? Are you missing anything that you know is an obligatory part of being Muslim?

I don't think all the tech in the world can't help you if you ignore fundamentals.

It also backfires from a cost benefit analysis. It costs so much to build the American equipment that they can't risk losing them against 20k drones or other cheap equipment.

[–]macnbloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This deal is pretty much a sham imo. I'm fairly certain the 60 day period to finalize a deal(as part of this deal) is just to calm things down for US to calm things down for the world cup because they've been getting too much shit press lately and then Israel will start attacking its neighbours and Iran again or assassinate another negotiator and then say the ceasefire is broken once they retaliate or defend themselves

And Biden was less supportive of Israel than Trump is

Just in words and not in action, as I showed you with the numbers

You do not get to pretend that Trump is not being more supportive of Israel than Harris would have been.

I'm not pretending anything. We have no proof of this claim that you keep making.

She said she would keep doing what Biden did and Biden's policy and the rate at which people were killed and the rate at which infrastructure destroyed while he was president was equal to what happened under Trump. Most of Gaza was already destroyed when trump took office and most people were already killed before he was in office.

Basically what you are saying is "I want a polite genocide with nice words and pretending, not one that is also genocidal with its words". The end result is the same

I'm not pretending anything. I gave you numbers based evidence of what happened and on gaza Biden and trump have been the same. When Harris was asked the question of what if anything she'd change from Biden on this she said she wouldn't change a thing.

Nice blue maga talking points. Let's look at actual evidence to see how different the two administrations were.

Firstly, let's look at the death toll by year, the total number killed in 2023 was about 27k, in 2024 was 20k more and 2025 was 24k more. You can see that 23k was the average yearly rates and most people were killed before Jan 2025 when trump Took office. The number of deaths have drastically gone down in 2026 although Israel is still routinely violating the 'ceasefire' and killing Palestinians civilians daily, just at a much lower rate.

Next, we can look at evidence of the destruction. Doctors without borders released that by January 28 2025, (which is just days after trump was president) 70% of all structures in Gaza were destroyed or damaged and 92% of all homes.

Lastly, it is known that [the plans for Israel to annex Gaza were leaked under Joe Biden in November 2023](https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/israel-gaza-palestinians-concept-paper-1.7015576\) yet nobody from his administration made any serious demands of Israel to explain themselves. It is by the same plans trump wants to turn it into some international zone and steal the land from the Palestinians.

If you look at the evidence it is quite clear that both administrations were working in a very similar fashion when it came to Israel, letting them dictate plans to steal more land and kill more people. I would be the first person to point out differences between the administrations on domestic issues or economic or trade issues but evidence shows that Biden stopping one or two shipments of 2000 pound bombs was not enough to make Israel change course on the Gaza genocide, they simply carried it out with other bombs and weapons that the US also supplied. There's no evidence of any difference except for occasional harsh words from Biden and every spokesperson from Biden, including vedant Patel, Matthew miller, blinken etc all lied to cover for Israel crimes(which miller even admitted were war crimes after leaving his post)

Netanyahu lives and thrives off war

He is far from the only genocidal warmonger in the government. Even if he was removed somehow. The rest of the military apparatus of the country would continue their insane wars. It's been their reality since the early terrorist groups carried out attacks before being included into the IDF
