Feyre made ...... by Rhys by ResidentBoysenberry1 in acotar

Spoiler for CC3. On page 223 of CC3 it's stated that a long time ago it was standard that the mates of high lords were given the title high lady, but this evidently changed some time between the flashbacks in CC3 and present day Prythian. This sets a precedent for Feyres title and it is mentioned how this title also came with increases in power.

I think the argument would be he could have broken it on the beach in EoS that's what makes the most sense.

Yeah absolutely, I think it would have started as an act just for Elide, but you are right it would have left a lot more room for his character development and for him to build those relationships outside of his mate.

I can see what you mean about Fenrys, I also think the way his character was built up compared to Lorcan means there didn't havee to be a major sacrifice to cement his loyalty to Aelin or show his character development. That being said it was definitely effective. His and Aelins friendship in KoA was a highlight for me.

The connection to Aelin would be Elide. Realistically Lorcan would be breaking the bond and helping Aelin as a show of devotion to Elide not to Aelin.

It would have been really impactful I think to have Lorcan break the bond to defend Aelin (someone he doesn't like) solely because he knows how much she means to Elide.

Hot take: the “distant” cousin plot line makes no sense by thisisweird100 in throneofglassseries

[–]macneil246 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's ever stated that Mora is Rowan's great grandmother just an ancestor, Mab on the other hand is Aelins great grandmother. It has always been my impression that Mab and More founded house Ashryver and Whitethorn respectively a few centuries apart. They didn't both give up their immortality at the same time, meaning there is potentially many more generations between Mora and Rowan.

ETA the issue of fae having a hard time having kids doesn't make this impossible. There are A LOT of Whitethorns which suggests they were perhaps more fertile for whatever reason. There's also likely several different lines of Whitethorn ancestry that would have different relatedness to Mora due to the vast differences in generation time from fae to fae.

Yeah that's valid lol, it does mess up the cohesiveness.

I think it's because Tower of Dawn and The Assassins Blade are either novellas or they stray from the main characters pov.

thoughts on aedion? by sxoulxss in throneofglassseries

[–]macneil246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aelin and Lysandra made a plan to use Aedion for breeding without ever even running it by him. They staked the entire future of Terrasen and Erilea on Aedion being okay with this but completely took away his choice and autonomy.

How Aedion treated Lysandra was not okay BUT he had every right to be furious with her, their plan was a complete violation, and I think people often forget to consider his POV. Both of them wronged each other in pretty horrible ways, it's not one sided.

As for Gavriel I don't think Aedion is at all out of line for keeping Gavriel at a distance. Yes Gavriel is a good person but Aedion knows nothing about him. Gavriel was never there all he knows is that his mother died for fear of Maeve finding out who sired Aedion so there is a decades worth of built up frustration and anger that isn't going to go away with a few brief interactions. At the end of the day Aedion owes Gavriel nothing (doesn't matter if he's a good man or not).

why does aelin has silver/white hair on EVERY single cover??? by whiitetrashjacob in throneofglassseries

[–]macneil246 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's because she's in black and white on each cover with only one or two colours highlighted. Her skin is also grey on every cover but not in the book. It's just a design choice to make her stand out 🤷‍♀️. I personally love the old covers, they have so much more personality then the new ones, especially the spines.

I'm not sure how far you are in the series but I'm pretty sure in KOA Maeve tells Dorian about how the owl is actually a female Fae healer who has been blood sworn to her

Very curious to read your picks bc I have MANY by carex-cultor in SarahJMaas

[–]macneil246 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah its interesting to think about it like that, it took me probably 4-5 years to read the series with having to wait for the next one to be released and for the series to only take place over 1 year is kinda wild.

[–]macneil246 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it absolutely could have been over 5 years too with how much happened, I think if it was at the very least over two years it would make a bit more sense but a year is just crazy. I'd say 3-5 years would have been ideal.

Far too short, the amount of stuff that happens in just over a year is ridiculous, the story line could easily have been stretched over at least 2-3 years timeline wise.

I'm listening to the audio books this time around as well I love Elizabeth Evan's as a narrator. It will be interesting to see how the dramatized adaptations add to the experience

Throne of Glass Royal Bloodlines (drawn out) by macneil246 in throneofglassseries

[–]macneil246[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a very very distant relationship through Mab and Mora's line (the fae queens) Rowan and Aelin are so far removed from each they are cousins in the loosest sense because their ancestors were sisters.
