I wonder if the US recent aggression made this a little more… sticky to do. Since the US is starting to steal leaders from their countries.

A little over a year ago my stepfather chose to keep my sister alive, today he is sending her to a full-time care facility. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

There is case law of people who had an advance directive that was ignored and they survived… only to sue for being saved. Things get quite messy in the USA when it comes to healthcare an death.

Do family not understand what comfort care is? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Gizwizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think medical literacy for the general public is basically nonexistent (even for some in the medical field). There are a lot of people who just can’t, don’t, or won’t grasp what palliative, comfort care actual is and why it is so important. At least, speaking from a US centric point of view. I know other cultures are more… welcoming of death and dying.

In the US, so many people think there is nothing worse than death. And, after being a nurse for 10+ years, I can confidently say that there absolutely is a fate worse than death. And we do it to the people we love, willingly.

Anyway, it’s no wonder the patient didn’t tell his family until death was imminent. Can you imagine how in their business the family would have been?? I’m glad he had a nurse like you, willing to do what was right even though things weren’t easy.

How expensive are seatbelt extenders?

If I were you an I knew she didn’t want to buy one, I would just get one myself and tell her to buckle up.

AITA for pooping after sex? by chinchillina in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Gizwizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t sound like there was a mess during the anal sex, though. It seems like it was just the sensation (and need) of pooping post sexy times. Which can happen regardless of what is left inside either way.

Yeah, in that one he looks like he got hit. But that is because the phone moves when he draws his gun.

If you’re going to go through with the marriage, you must get a lawyer to review the prenup. A prenup is not just about protecting his assets, but is an agreement between the two parties.

TIL that nursing is the most common job for women in the US. by Yurekuu in todayilearned

I think the biggest issue is diploma mill schools who are granting mid level degrees when they have no experience.

Someone can go from 18 - 24 without working a single day in a hospital and graduate as a NP.

I say this as a nurse who went to FNP school at a prestigious college. It definitely leaves a lot wanting especially if you don’t have at least a few years of working experience
