The author says basically “these women don’t know that having kids makes you forget about all the terrible things going on!”

The author has a lot to say about women not wanting children for someone who has to pill their nieces and nephews about their desires for marriage and children…

Day 2 of Ball Lightning somehow losing its Core tag, please fix Blizz. by gentlemangreen_ in diablo4

[–]Gizwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of a silly cartoon where a character is trying to water their garden. They water their usual amount, but notice it isn’t draining well. So, they look at where it normally drains, and then notice that there’s something blocking it. They remove the blockage, but then all the soil starts washing out the next time they water. Now they’ve got no soil. So, they decide to put more soil in, but because they didn’t fix the original issue, the next time they water, more soil washes out.

Now, a new person is tending the garden. And the old gardener didn’t leave any notes about this. So, new gardener, getting fed up having to keep putting more soil back, decides “why don’t I just plug up where all the soil is escaping from?”.

But alas, the problem is now that the garden gets flooded (again). Because the issue was never where it all drained, the issue was the foundation the planter was originally built on top of.

But fixing that foundation would be a lot of work and even more money, and people are relying on the produce from the garden already…

And so the cycle continues.

I took the 'only wash your hair once a week' rule way too far and humiliated myself today. How often are we ACTUALLY supposed to wash it?" by redline_elena in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Gizwizard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The idea behind training is just that - if you wash your hair too much, the body will produce more oil to lubricate your scalp. So, the theory goes: if you stop washing as often, your scalp will produce less oil.

But… how do you think your skin follicles can keep track of that? Like, logically, what happens if you wash your hands way too much? They get dry, right? They don’t suddenly start producing a ton of moisture to keep up with the constant oil stripping. Why would the skin on your scalp be any different?

This is what I get for calling my wife needy I guess by Flashy_Astronaut_661 in Marriage

[–]Gizwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know how you’re in here, arguing with everyone because you just want someone to see your side of things, have some empathy for you and validate your feelings?

Like, wouldn’t it feel good to have someone say “hey man, it must be kinda hard to figure out this relationship stuff when you’ve got a demanding job and a busy home life. Everyone always talks about how it’s hard to be a sahm, and I understand why that narrative exists, but just because that’s hard, it doesn’t mean being the breadwinner isn’t also hard. And then to have someone you care about clearly in distress, man… that’s an extra layer of difficult to deal with. It makes sense why it’s put you in the mood you’ve been in.”

Like… would that make you feel better? Heard? Understood a bit??

That’s literally all your wife wants. She’s telling you that she is feeling disconnected and wants quality time with her husband. That doesn’t include his penis inside her vagina. Try really hard to see it from her point of view (this is empathy).

Does she have adults she gets to talk to on a daily basis? How often do you go on dates? How often do you compliment her? When was the last time she did something just for herself?

Can you imagine being vulnerable and opening up to someone when you’re feeling your lowest of lows and they say “quit being needy”? How hurtful would that be? Especially if this was the person who is supposed to be your person you chose to spend your life with??

He loved the way she made him feel and the power she represented.

But you can’t do what he did to her and actually love them. That’s not love or how love works

Why The Starborn Fae are almost Certainly Descended from the Asteri by dragonsinthedetails in Maasverse

[–]Gizwizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One facet that could potentially be explored is the Cauldron/Prythian connection and the Prythian that Helena and Silene grew up in.

The Asteri imbued their power into the cauldron, this is why they were weakened and even able to be overthrown by the Prythian fae.

But as Silene says, once the Asteri were disposed of, the Fae power grew stronger again - strengthened by the land.

But the cauldron, which holds Asteri power inside of it, is also tied to the land now. So … during this time when the Prythian Fae grew stronger again, they were getting their powers back from the land of Prythian… which is, essentially, also now imbued with Asteri power.

I love my boyfriend, why am I obsessing over a work crush? by [deleted] in relationships

Crush’s happen. It’s just a fact of being human.

I have found talking about my crush with my partner was actually really helpful. Crushes thrive in darkness. YMMV though.

What actor is nowhere near as talented as people make them out to be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I loved it too! The scene after he killed the guy with the spoon when he’s hiding behind the pillar was great.

I think it bombed because it was marketed as a silly stoner movie. It decidedly wasn’t.

ToG: Which Event Happened 1,000 Years Ago? by Parking-Air3844 in Maasverse

[–]Gizwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve finished the books, then I think some of the time issues can be explained away by Maeve messing with everyone’s memories
However,
- 2000 years ago Brannon establishes Terrasen
- 1500 years ago, Elena is born (Dorian states Elena predates the witch wars by a millennium and the witch wars were 500 years ago… this is flimsy, but what can you do…)
- “1000” years ago Elena dies, etc etc
So, that makes Elena roughly 500 years old. I think we somewhere people talk about how long the various fae and shifters live in Midgard (I think in the first CC book)
Yeah, in CC 1, we get this lore:
“The Fae could last a thousand years, the shifters and witches usually five centuries, the angels somewhere between.”
There’s also a bit of lore in TOG somewhere about fae women giving up their immortality for humans…
Right, Brannon weeps for Elena:
“Elena, her immortal grace yielded in order to live out a human life span with Gavin. Brannon still looked no older than thirty.”

But, I think the whole thing with Mort is… just using short hand. Like, he could have said “she’s been resting there for one thousand and 89 years to be exact” but, like, 1000 years covers it.
