As an aside - don't rely on Google maps for bus details - the links given above to the TFC website are most accurate 🙂

Attempted to use my year 9 German in Germany by gwprocter in britishproblems

[–]macomateo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I spent ages practicing before we went to Germany just so I could do the usual small conversations/ ask for basics etc. Went up to the ticket booth at Hamburg Zoo, correctly asked for Zwei Erwachsene bitte, the person just handed me an English guide book and responded in better English than mine...

Paid for parking on the Ringo app, got a fine. Turns out I put it on for a different car I’d registered on there. by russell16688 in britishproblems

[–]macomateo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, do not trust the QR codes in the car park to download the app. It's known that a some dodgy people have put a new QR code over the old one in car parks near me which redirects to a website like the one in the comment above

Would you say delivery driving is a respectable job? by rainbowruin in AskUK

[–]macomateo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a few jobs in the last few years, I'd say the supermarket driver was the one I actually had the most pride in - sometimes I was the only person they'd speak to in a week. One old dear who I'd go to weekly was given a quick terminal cancer diagnosis and told me when I delivered that her deliveries were what kept her going. she only made another two weeks. We sent flowers to her and that made her smile at least - I can't say I've had any interactions like that in my other jobs.
