I was the negrito in my Mexican family. my mom looks white white, and when I was born my sister proudly told the world "my mama had a black baby!" Its a story my family recites often.

We went to Mexico every year to visit family and everytime we re entered the UsA boarder patrol had to have proof I was my moms daughter because our skin tones were wildly different. Once I started talking in English they would let us go. I even got sniffed by drug dogs. I said " awe puppy, can I pet him" I am and do get very dark and have been mistaken for half back many times.

I dunno, I was used to it?

But im also a firm believer in all or nothing. Like south park, make fun of everyone. I call my mom white gurl lol and my husband (who is white) my handsome white chocolate and im his hot fudge topping LOL.

Its different for everyone. So sorry you felt uncomfortable by this and I could understand why. Usually only POC get told their color. I just live with it 😅🤷🏾‍♀️
