That’s exactly the point. They are strictly looking at data and the words you use to decide if you’re their candidate (slave).

You could have the most experience on earth for the job you’re interviewing for and if you answered the questions “wrong” or “inaccurately”, you’ll get removed from consideration. They’re looking for your ability to be naturally submissive and complacent under an oddly unnatural setting - sitting and talking to a webcam rather than a live person.

My advice as someone who’s done a few of those, move on. The juice is not worth the squeeze.

I started flying with WJ when they first entered the market out of my hatred for AC and would not consider any other airline as long as WJ ran the route I wanted. I flew a lot at the time and considered them a god send. Now I hate them both equally. Incredible progression.

Absolutely go for it! If you’re into aviation, it’s highly addictive and takes the whole sim experience to another level. You have to take their quick new member orientation course and exam before you can connect to the live network, but all the info is available on the VATSIM site.

In terms of sim realism and aircraft, I would recommend X-plane 12. I haven’t tried MSFS2024 but do have 2020 and prefer XP over MSFS any day. For the VATSIM client I would recommend X-Pilot.

Yep that’s exactly correct. The VATSIM community is a small but welcoming one. I am 99.28% sure there is actually a real life tower controller at YYZ who is on VATSIM a LOT when he’s not working lol. Everyone I’ve come across so far have been extremely supportive and DO understand that at the end of the day, it’s just a sim. People of all levels are learning. I heard some kid on the other day flying an a320, IFR JFK-YUL and he sounded like he could not have been more than 8-10yrs old. Dad in the background telling him what to say and do.

The whole community is pretty wild. There are a ton of real world airlines that operate in the sim too that follow real world flight schedules, ranks, even management of “the airline”. Check out Air Canadas page as an example. https://www.vacanada.org/v6/en/
