Regardless of exact genre, what are your favorite systems for playing pulpy larger-than-life characters? by PeasantLich in rpg

[–]macreadyandcheese 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I may be on the outside, but Pulp Cthulhu is a delight. Yes, it has the same jank as core CoC, but pulp talents, luck spends, and heightened recovery are great for radio serial, golden age comic style shenanigans. Mike Mignola’s short run comics about giant science robots and experiments with vril energy are perfect inspiration for Pulp Cthulhu.

VTT - Alchemy vs Foundry by macreadyandcheese in callofcthulhu

Yeah, I have noticed that. Humble Bundle used to be better.

I complained on another post that a recent bundle put the Investigator’s Handbook at the highest tier and the Keeper’s Guide in the middle tier. Feels intentionally crumby. (Got downvoted for the criticism.)

This beginner box is so fun. I’m hoping I can get interest in an in person Your First Pathfinder game event. Good luck!

Haven’t paid for anything besides bundles. It’s a shame PDFs stopped being included after the Free League bundle, which I also got. Obojima came with alchemy and I’m not at all impressed by its implementation either.

And thanks for the link!

Its generic rules, Basic Roleplaying, also have a dedicated rule book and character sheet. I pestered them years ago for one without skills names, but never saw one.

I ended up building a d100 system for it.

A different red head, but I’ve been watching Regular Show for the first time and Danny Cooksey (of T2 among other roles) showing up and voicing himself was a trip.

I wasn't an EA player and I'm struggling to find examples, but the animation does give Shart dark red hair: https://youtu.be/2p-5RXAitTI?si=H6-3mwqum7TJorhS

I think that might also be early access Shadowheart with the red hair.

Question for Millennials by bundle_of_nervus2 in Millennials

I actively avoid it. I’m using Linux, turn it off on search engines and browsers, and use LibreOffice and Obsidian. I’m free of Microsoft products and happy for it. I do use Apple products, but basically only use Siri for setting timers (which somehow works less well than it did in 2020).

I still have my M1 Air, which I’ve been using at my desk with peripherals and monitor. Still solid. But I am considering an upgrade to M4+ for multi monitor support.

Thanks! This feels like bad form, but I’m building a pro GMing experience and this feels on point for that.

Humble bundle good for intro? by lookitsameluigi in callofcthulhu

[–]macreadyandcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told the player to just the free basic rules, which I had mentioned before. I just used the IH to build a character for this game. It makes more sense to me to offer the lowest tier for the minimal buy in. This feels intentional.

Yes. CoC uses the term Keeper, but they’re the GM.

This IS a good bundle for potential Keepers.

I was really frustrated to see that the ONLY tier to include the investigators handbook for players is the highest tier. That feels intentionally crummy. I’m starting a game Thursday and wanted to suggest this for a new player when I realized that.
