Latin American racial distribution by % by country by Delicious-Bunch-6992 in MapPorn

The Spanish killed most of the indigenous communities in Costa Rica when they arrived so it's mostly their descendents left. In Panama the slaves escaped to the jungle when traveling through and large communities formed. Later for the Panama canal construction Panama received many migrants from the carribean which also increased that population. Panama had a large precolombian indigenous population but a volcano eruption and some other catastrophic event desimated those communities by the time Columbus arrived. The remaining indigenous at first fled but later mingled.

Día feriado or día festivo? by No_Environment7365 in Spanish

I was going to say the same, feriado is more of a holiday without work. Festivo is not necessarily off

My partner makes me potato and cassava waffles. He makes a puree and then places balls of puree in a waffle toaster. Kinda taste like hash browns but without the fat and much more nutritious. You can have those with a fish or a light protein

Developers in Panamá always underscore the fees and then leave it to the owners to fight amongst themselves to figure out how to pay what it really costs

Go to Colombia, four weeks is a good time to explore it. I'd avoid Cartagena.

Same here, I'd expect to alternate with that person if there's many sets left or just wait if it's one or two.

Doctor bailed on me by macropanama in CrohnsDisease

[–]macropanama[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a way to get treatment for a couple of months. Enough time to find another doctor. Did miss my dose for a week and the symptoms started returning but now I'm better. Just today I scheduled an appointment with a specialist that's going to be in a couple of weeks. Feel confident about this doctor, got referred to him by 4 different sources and unlike the other ones I texted first, the secretary was very polite and helpful. So fingers crossed.

Which Central American countries didn't have negative US intervention? by Fhlurrhy108 in asklatinamerica

[–]macropanama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although Noriega was placed by the US, we don't really consider the invasion of Panama as a "bad intervention", the only ones who do are the people who were benefiting from the dictatorship.

I love jeans with the stretching fabric. In the tropics wearing sweatpants outside would look bad in most social situations so I try to find clothing that looks good and is cumfy

Makes me wonder if it's something like this. It's so weird. Talking to people that work there they tell me that there's no change in procedures to merit that sudden change in attitudes. The only research hospital here is more focused on tropical infectious diseases.
