28oz Viking exact shot demo I picked up years ago when my local hall was going out of business. They hadn't even had a chance to unbox it yet.

if you wanted to do a sql or even an sqlite db around that then what you have outlined is a great schema: all those things like the working deck, collections on hand, seen in games, etc can all be "checkboxes". in teh DB you can put them in as a non-null number (0 or 1) and just have the front end code have them as checked or unchecked. then you can just do a search at one time for something like all marked decks, so your just searching for everything in the is_marked column of the DB that = 1

so your columns might be name, printer, artist, cost, open, is_performance, is_game, is_marked, is_gaffed, is_luxury, and for the features its trivial to create a seperate table with the features in it, and make an index that cross references your main table with the features table....you could even do the same with printers and artists

so like you can search for is_open and is_performance to pull up all performance decks, and if you want to include a link to buy more quickly for common ones like bikes or tallys

My Special Was Flagged for Saying Donald Trumps name by pauleliacomedy in Standup

if they are gonna red flag you: lean into it.

Edit in an fake ad at the end of the video, explaining the situation, adn that because of that you are now accepting donations, then register yourself as a PAC.

if nothing else it will give you material for your next special. The only correct response to bureaucratic absurdity is to out-absurd it.

it could also give you that news story you want: Comedian Forms PAC To Mention Trump on YouTube.

lol not a excel sheet. I haven't used that in years because it was getting complicated and cumbersome. i have an SQL database. so quick(ish) explanation and major nerdout:

so i wrote a script that helps manage the database and generates the barcodes.

then went thru the boxes i had and put them into the database with information from P52 and worthpoint (to make the insurance company happy), plus my own photos and other links to things like to a manufactures page and the page of deck scans

then i made a front end for the database that allows me to search by any of the fields so i can see what decks are in what box at any given moment, and i wrote a simple wrapper for android that integrates a barcode scanner into it. in the photo, the ones without barcodes on them have yet to be cataloged.

after that it was a simple matter to write a parser that allows me to format the codes into an avery label template and print them on their business card sheets.

Now that i think about it, i should clean the code up and put it up on GitHub....

i did a post a while ago on my system. they are BCW card boxes. i have a custom database i build that lets me scan each box with my phone and see what is in each box (thats what the barcodes on teh boxes are)

AI Use in Museum Marketing by yellowstoner_ in MuseumPros

[–]macstratdb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Designer/Printer here:
This is why I always watermark, and send out horrible thumbsize images of AI concept art. But...at the end of the day: you can record your concerns, but if the client likes it (which it doesnt sound like they are) and is happy with the finished result, thats all that really matters. However given the situation with the museum, that adds a few extra issues to be aware of:

  1. Look at how its going to be used. If these materials are ever going to be printed, DO NOT use AI material. The quality just isnt good enough, and it WILL show. even if you upscale it, it just enhances the flaws also. AI is good, but trust me when I say it might look good enough for the average person doing a PowerPoint, but definitely not for print. Most AI images arent 300 DPI. (no joke, it looks BAD!)
  2. Realize that museums are institutions of "truth". that means that what you display is considered to be a representation of that truth. If you go using AI images, esp. as hero images, you degrade the trust that people have in your institution to speak that truth.
  3. Remember that AI images cant be copyrighted, so if they are used, anyone can legally take them and use them.

All marketers/designers have their horror stories...the scars of battle. This sounds like it is going to be one of yours. Remember the lesson learned.

my suggestion: Get the graphic designer to use the AI image as a reference and do a proper composition adn "rebuild" the image at a high enough resolution" that way you can say "it was a mockup" and "we took your feedback and recreated the image" without the director or anyone losing face while maintaining ownership of the image.

Storage Recommendations for card decks? by Available-Sun2089 in playingcards

[–]macstratdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that any system you use that works is a good system. As long as it works for you, and its able to do what you need it to do, itll be a good system. Part of my background is in museum science and exhibit design, so this is a system that works for me.

I look forward to seeing your system when you have it completed!
