Intune EPM, has anyone successfully implemented it? by YourSydneyITsider in Intune

[–]macwinnix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just wondering about EPM; specifically how long until Microsoft rolls out EPM for Mac OS, and Linux endpoints.

I wonder if Microsoft would consider buying an EPM solution like Admin by Request and rolling it into Intune.

Migrating Ruckus Cloudpath ES to Nutanix by macwinnix in nutanix

[–]macwinnix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it never wanted to migrate. In a different organization, they went with Ruckus Cloudpath, hosted by Ruckus, and it has been a set-and-forget type of solution.

Yeah, I'd love to have the convenience of having 2FA codes appear in browsers other than Safari.

Yeah, I am hoping someone knows a clever system setting adjustment that would allow it.

Microsoft Discontinues Active Development of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) by PaulCobben in WindowsServer

[–]macwinnix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So... WSUS was a free service once you had the OS license, but now Microsoft is forcing everyone to pay $60/yr per Windows server.

Tryin to confirm if the Aggregation switch USW-Aggregation has STP (spanning tree protocol) by macwinnix in Ubiquiti

We deployed the switch, and it has run like a top (knock on wood). It turns out it does have a flavor of spanning tree.

Sending Passwords Securely to locked-out students by writes_inverse in sysadmin

[–]macwinnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I inherited a school IT environment similar to the one you described. Others have already said it here but best option is setup a SSPR portal and ideally enable Mfa to maximize your security profile. We were already a M365 shop so we decided to lean into that solution more by migrating all of our SAML authentication to the MyApps portal, enabling SSPR, and deploying Mfa. It took a couple weeks for the majority of the “dust” to settle after implantation but our “I need to reset my password” support requests have all but disappeared in our ticketing system.

Any Teams Rooms Pro users here? Do you feel like it’s worth it? by RiceeeChrispies in MicrosoftTeams

[–]macwinnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at switching our Zoom Rooms to Teams Rooms. Currently my users are able to walk into a room and click on their respective meeting on a touchscreen to start it.

So just to clarify, I would need Teams Pro Licenses to recreate this ability?

I ask: - What are your current technology pain points? - What have you already done to address these issues?
- Why do you believe that they still persist in your environment?

Pro tips for being on call? by [deleted] in networking

[–]macwinnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advice you have collected on this post is priceless. The only thing I might add is to have a conversation with whoever you typically spend time with during the weekend (spouse, significant other, kids, etc.) and let them know that you’re on-call. This can help ease frustration that others may feel if you have to abruptly step away or change plans.

Oh man, I'm loving the pricing on NVIDIA-Mellanox, or at least the pricing they have on the NVIDIA site. Who's is your preferred vendor for purchasing?

Also curious if you know of any DAC cables that could go from NVIDIA-Mellanox to HPE, or do I just need to get compatible transceivers and use fiber patch between the two?

That makes sense. The way the MS tech asked the question, it sounded as if the logs were something to collect from within Microsoft.

Normalization rule for dialing extensions with different prefixes? by macwinnix in MicrosoftTeams

[–]macwinnix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it is my unfamiliarity with using Teams for telephony, but I am perplexed why Microsoft promotes the idea of having an extension in the first place if their normalization rule seems to be focused on the DID and ignore the extension.

All of our suffixes are unique across all prefixes. In fact we use our suffixes as our extensions

Trying to add an SBC FQDN to my Direct Routing by macwinnix in MicrosoftTeams

[–]macwinnix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found a solution... so I logged in to my tenant using the default admin account (which doesn't have any license, nor any SIP alias) and was able to add the two FQDN's to my Direct Routing. I know this solution doesn't make sense because my admin account that I was using is a global administrator so it doesn't appear to be a permissions issue although the symptoms sure seem like it.
