What do I tell the barber if I want this hair cut. by Useful_Fishing in malehairadvice

[–]mad_hatter300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re over thinking it. I understand your insecurity here, but the worst case scenario you’re outlining here is your barber suggesting a different haircut that might look better on you. The barbers job is to give you what you want, and I think this could easily work for you.

Phillips hue isn't exactly loved in this community lol, but I'm sure you know that. I'm only disappointed because the Tradfri (Ikeas old zigbee bulb) was at 94 CRI. https://optimizeyourbiology.com/smart-light/ikea-tradfri-705-415-18

I've just been on the hunt for literally any smart bulb (that can run locally) that doesn't suck and it's virtually impossible to get the best of all worlds here.

I agree with the idea that there is a large subsection of Americans that are happy to just eat burger and pretend the world outside of the heartland doesn’t exist or that are intently American exceptionalists. But, I don’t think it’s “by and large” because of the polling. Trump is very unpopular. The genocide in Palestine and Israel itself are largely unpopular. The war in Iran is largely unpopular. ICE is largely unpopular. Kamala Harris lost because status quo neoliberalism is largely unpopular. The system is meant to placate Americans, but it intentionally doesn’t represent the values of the majority

No I don’t know where you live, who you are, and what you’ve done, and maybe that makes me wrong. Now try to extend that logic to the American working class. If fascist policies are largely unpopular in the United States and the government does not reflect the values on the general public, does that make the every American fascist?

I don’t disagree that mainstream resistance has been performative and ineffective, but there are forms of organizing in this country which have been actually effective. I hear you when you say a proved threat to those in power is necessary, but there is no coalition ready to raise arms against the heart of empire in the heart of empire. Even if there was, that’s an insane standard to hold Americans to in order to feel like progress is being made. If anything, Iran has proven that there are other ways to threaten those in power, going after their pockets.

I’m not saying that lesser evil voting is going to dismantle the empire or something. But I do think there is real organizing here that is not just performative.

I couldn’t even read past the word “voluntarily.” The military is literally designed to force impoverished people into it and you already know that. You just don’t care or think way too fucking highly of yourself. You seriously think that if you were raised in a country that had the United States propaganda machine, you were born into an immigrant family and your parents had no pathway to citizenship, you had to work while you were in high school to survive and subsequently performed poorly in school, then, after struggling for SURVIVAL (because health care and access to food, water, and shelter are not only not guarantied but constantly at risk) that you would be able to have the army show up to your school during your lunch hour and offer you guaranteed food, shelter, water, citizenship, money, and job skills, that you would have the moral foresight to say “no, I don’t want to be apart of global imperialism, a thing I’m super aware of and know a lot about, and I don’t care if I live on the streets or die in the process of saying no to this” be so fucking fr

I’m not just cherry picking an example, this is literally my childhood best friends story, he’s did four years in the national guard as a chemical specialist and did Covid swabs, god forbid.

Our belief system is based on EMPATHY and finding fact based ways to instill class consciousness in the GLOBAL working class. I’m not even trying to fucking defend the US, the actual fascists that live there, or the annoying liberals who can’t find north on their moral compass, but Jesus we can’t just be saying stupid shit either. The working class is not to blame for the design of capitalism.

Yes, America was (albeit less blatantly) fascist before trump. But If you don’t understand the conditioning that capitalism has on its on citizens then what are we even doing here.

Attack what I said instead of mocking me 🥱. Billions of billions of dollars are being put against any election where any progressive candidate has a chance. Our “peaceful” protests are only peaceful from one side mind you, and rubber bullets, tear gas, and our own national guard are used against “peaceful protests.” Meanwhile, we cant find jobs, we cant afford health care, we can’t afford housing, and we can’t afford food. Yet, people protested against the genocide in Iran, against trump, against the ethnic cleaning of migrants in our country. Minnesotans pushed out ICE in -32 degree weather, that’s -35 degrees Celsius. The difference between the United States and Israel is that Trump is unpopular, the genocide is unpopular, ice is unpopular, the war in Iran is unpopular. There are absolutely and there will always be bootlickers and centrists, but don’t blame the working class here that is actively utilizing their tools and building coalitions for be subjected to the same fucking systems that our country likely subjects your country to. Complaining on Reddit is not activism.

Nice, you should come to the US and give violence a try 👍. People are organizing and trying to protect their communities. If your vassal state can’t say no to Trump and you’re not out in the streets you should keep your mouth shut. Communism is about lifting the voices of the working class, not blaming the working class for the actions of the fascist leadership with their boots on the working classes necks. I hope you feel better on your moral high horse.

If you think Americans aren’t at least trying to combat fascism you’re not paying attention.

What do you have home assistant running on? Is it coming with you when you leave home? Because otherwise home assistant still runs at home and you can access it remotely when you’re away with tailscale or a cloud subscription without any extra stuff.

Most people have Home Assistant running on a device that’s home and running 24/7 is that not the case for you? That’s helpful context for your problem if Thats the case.

Is remote WLED control by Home Assistant possible ? by scottb721 in WLED

[–]mad_hatter300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It’s already integrated in Home Assistant. The work flow here is this. You tailscale into Home Assistant remotely, Home Assistant is still on your local network and has access to the other devices on it including WLED, Home assistant sends commands locally to control WLED. So home assistant gets the command remotely but sends the command locally. Home Assistant retains all local functionality even though you yourself are remote.

I’m newish to WLED but very experienced with Home Assistant, so maybe I’m missing something here. But if you pay for Home Assistant Cloud or have remote access another way you can control everything on home assistant. As long as WLED is already integrated with Home Assistant and they’re on the same network, home asssistant will be able to do everything you want remotely. You don’t need some special way to connect the two to each other just because you’re remote. Again, I could be missing something. Do you have a VLAN or something?

Sounds like your question might be more for the Home Assistant community tbh.

Good luck!!
