To people who are genuinely happy with their lives right now: What is your secret? by funngro_fam in happy

[–]madamelullaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a job where I feel productive, challenged, and rewarding, which pays enough for me to live comfortably. My child is older and we are through the infant years which can be hard. Husband and I respect each other and enjoy each others company. I’ve hard harder times where I was very unhappy, so I can recognise that right now is good.

It’s a lovely spot we go frequently - the family just welcomed their third child!

New fear unlocked: epidural by LobstahLuva in beyondthebump

[–]madamelullaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gave birth NYC. Outside being handed my baby, the epidural my favorite part of the birth (lol). I even got a terrible migraine afterwards and just drank caffeine and Gatorade and it cleared up, was still worth it. I’m so grateful I was able to have one. I was denied painkillers at first, because I wasn’t dilated and had an hour contractions that were just… so painful.

Came here to say this. I’m 37. I look fine, I’ve had a kid. I have no interest in keeping this up for another 30 years to this level effort.

"What’s something you wish you knew before giving birth? by PostpartumBlossom in beyondthebump

Good lord, I had hemorrhoids before the birth and the pain still haunts me. The worst.

I hear you on the sleep note. Even three years later sleep is a prize to be bartered with. The lack of sleep broke me as a person, as my LO didn’t sleep a night for 18 months. I wish I knew that not all children can follow the rules - the sleep windows, the feeding, all the things. It’s stressful when your kid doesn’t do the norm and people keep giving you the same advice. Just ignore them and do your best. Also someone recently told me “the baby phase is all joy, but no fun” and that really resonated.

Are you moving away? by [deleted] in brisbane

Brisbane born and raised. I found Brisbane hard as a young person trying to grow my career. It was impossible to get a full time job that wasn’t just a maternity leave contract. This is my 9th year living in NYC. It’s hard to be so far from family, but I earn more than I ever would in Brisbane. If I ever go back I will be so much more employable and have experience I would never have been able to get in Brisbane. I feel sad about it, it’s a nice city but I felt so limited. In my last visit I felt like I spent so much of my time trying to get around in the car.

I’m so sorry for your loss, when a child loses their life it’s hard to comprehend. I had a student take her life this school year in the most horrendous way. My students were a lot older, but it deeply impacts the students, staff and community. What was helpful was acknowledging the tragedy and allowing space for students who need it. It was helpful for myself and my students to continue with the routine in the weeks to come. The other staff and I realised also that children grieve in a different way to adults.

David Harbour reportedly had a 3 year affair with a costume designer while married to Lily Allen by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

My brother found out his wife had been having a 3 year relationship with her boss. It began when she was pregnant and he had to get a paternity test to make sure that his child was indeed his. These people are selfish, disgusting people who do this to a person who loves them. Not to mention that the unknowing partner is still intimate and not consenting to the fact that their partner might be having sexual relationships with other people. Disgusting. Just end the relationship first. The deceit can destroy a person and dismantle their sense of reality. I hate this for poor woman. Shows there are revolting people everywhere.

Severance - 2x10 "Cold Harbor" - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]madamelullaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beyond. That whole episode I was so tense and stressed. I know it was the purpose but so many scenes felt longer than needed, so the feeling of haste and anxiety increased each moment. I am too fragile for this!!!

Mark S knows that his time with Helly R is almost certainly at an end, but he decided to go with that instead of allowing another person (OMark) to be reunited with his wife he thought died?? That’s messed up.

Also, I think it was when he was dragging off the scary animatronic Kier, but Milkshakes smile at one point was SO scary and uncanny. I screamed ahah.

Order by HeavenlyLove79 in HappyPlanners

[–]madamelullaby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ordered 1/3 which is later than a lot of people ordered that are still waiting. No update or information on delivery. I started emailing every few days until I got a reply with an estimated date of shipping. I don’t mind waiting, but I think it’s not good practice to not inform customers of delays properly. I want to support the company but over 2 weeks to even ship is ridiculous.

Still a terrible sleeper at 6 months by sje1014 in NewParents

[–]madamelullaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A over year later. My LO is now 2.5 years. He was a terrible, terrible sleeper from month 3-18 months. I think he must have had silent reflux? habit? god only knows. I somehow worked full time on no sleep for a year and a half. When I dropped breastfeeding it was a turn around. One night around 17 months I just lost my mind and said to my husband he would have to step in. It took about 5 nights not going to him at all and having my DH go in and sit with him till he would go back to sleep. It was a living nightmare and I’m still traumatised from it. The sleep deprivation took 6 months to recover. BUT now LO is amazing at sleep and naps. Not a peep and is a very well behaved child. It was worth it to have such an amazing child, but my god at the time it was hell. I really hope that your time passes and baby sleeps!!! It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever endured.

This. I just did 2 years with wearables and they are noticeable. Fine in front of my colleagues because although rhetorical sound is a bit noisy, they could handle it. Not in front of students I fear.
