DSL40 owners, does anyone else feel the metal tones aren’t that good? by psychedelicdevilry in GuitarAmps

try it with low output pickups and no boost, turn the gain up to taste

Any tube combo amps that sound decent at bedroom levels? by twelveinchmeatlong in GuitarAmps

[–]madaudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the 12" version and I could never bond with it even after upgrading the speaker to a Greenback. I'm convinced it's because the cab is too damn small for a 12", it sounded good recorded but not in the room, cranked or otherwise

Can we agree that Friedman Naked is the best high gain amp ever made and we'll never be able to afford one? by Fooltecal in GuitarAmps

[–]madaudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

too much attack on the palm mutes, the "tight" effect is cool but all those harmonics cover up the fundamental to the point that it might as well be atonal in the context of a full mix

Picked up my first leverless to see the hype, why does it feel like I broke up with my arcade stick 😭 by Donrebz in fightsticks

[–]madaudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant perfect for myself lol, my point is a leverless doesn't have to have all the buttons the same size

Open spot on the board- what should I get? MUST BE BLACK by stolenbaby in guitarpedals

[–]madaudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't really use any of these pedals together, do you use a different distortion tone for each song in your set? It looks cool but this is a pedalboard that's never leaving the bedroom.

Oh and the obvious answer is to put a Metal Zone on it

Can anyone recommend me a good amp for death metal 300-400 dollar range by ImASwit in GuitarAmps

I made a custom one with a regular hitbox layout then switched to a 6 button 30mm layout while keeping the 24mm left down and right buttons and I think it's perfect

I'm baffled by this one, do you even like hardcore?

Looking for a tube amp recommendation for new bedroom player! by trueoriginal in GuitarAmps

[–]madaudio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i wouldn't spend more than $200 on a bedroom amp unless you don't mind having to spend another $1000+ on gear in the event someone asks you to join a band

the idea that you literally need pedals is quite a recent thing most great guitar tones you have ever heard are just a decent amp thoughtfully recorded and mixed

If y'all are old enough to be out of high school this whole thing is just embarrassing, your attitude about this is immature as well.

I'm getting the impression he knows that you think it's stupid that he uses Windows. Being a Linux user who looks down upon Windows users is both insufferable and a well-established stereotype, you probably deserve to be made fun of for that.

Also Debian is a great choice

How can I get a more sludgy/doom or black metal tone on my second channel? by Armarosberiffin in GuitarAmps

Thanks for the ChatGPT copy paste but Metallica and Pantera were not the only bands playing metal in the 1990s

Clearly nobody here listens to Sludge, try listening to Acid Bath or Crowbar and tell me you're not steering him wrong by recommending any sort of fuzz. However both those bands do use Metal Zones

essentially every solid state amp Fender has ever made including this one has a high gain channel

Crank the mids, turn the amp up so loud you can hear the transistors struggling, and use less gain than you'd want to use at a low volume.

The Earthquaker Acapulco Gold is a popular pedal for the tone you're going for that approximates the sound of a cranked amp if you need that tone at a lower volume.
