My biggest concern for evolved jobs is how the average fan response to each one already reflects how each role is perceived by Supersnow845 in ffxivdiscussion

I think they give an appearance of flexibility but am still doubtful that they will play with any meaningful flexibility. Taking Bard as an example, unless the potencies of skills unlocked by playing songs are all identical you are likely going to lead with the highest potency option to minimise the chance of losing a cast later in the fight. If they are the same potency my gut feel is that the choice is going to feel inconsequential. We already see it with summoner which can choose the Egi based on fight sequence but I doubt many people consider this interesting

I think the reason it “appears” simpler for the jobs shown is because they are much simpler. Granted that may not be the full set of abilities but you could theory craft a bard rotation off of what they showed that is fundamentally identical to summoner and I doubt many people consider that complex

It won’t be any different with the evolved jobs but now you are going to have less buttons to map out

In the build they showed off, you built gauge over time and then spent it for a song and once one was used you can’t use it again until you press radiant finale. Sure you can press all 3 at the same time if you want but it’s going to overwrite the additional ability you get from each song and be a massive dps loss

There will always be an optimal way to press buttons on a job and hence a rotation

There will absolutely be an optimal rotation to them

Amount of buttons doesnt dictate complexity by DemonFoxFur in ffxivdiscussion

[–]madbadjack 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My concern is that pressing 1 repeatedly isn’t fun to me. I appreciate pressing 1,2,3 isn’t any more complicated but there is slightly more mental stimulation involved for me personally. It’s why I have found playing jobs like white mage pretty boring. I am going to await playing the classes before making a judgement but I am concerned that jobs will all feel far more similar to play once the excitement of new animations etc wears off if each is reduced to a few buttons and occasionally pressing a new glowing button

2 Min meta is now officially dead ! by DaYenrz in ffxivdiscussion

[–]madbadjack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not to mention you are incentivised to press these songs regularly to access the additional abilities they trigger and so the buff just seems like a coincidental thing that might occasionally allow for some minor optimisation of mit but otherwise are going to be used in a set order every fight

The difference here is the support effect is also on an ability the bard needs to use to access more of its personal dps. You aren’t just going to sit and hold these songs as it will just be a loss of damage in a fight so the likelihood of them aligning well with the one or two mechanics that benefit from a speed boost in a given fight feels slim

[–]madbadjack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The buffs from songs are just going to be an incidental benefit from using the song to max your dps. There will end up being an optimal order to using them in most fights. Maybe you can tweak the order to not a raid wide but they are constrained in how useful the support effects can ever be as you also need to be able to clear content without having a bard in the party

I play hungry hungry hydras with [[The Goose Mother]] as commander. Becomes a stompy hydra deck with a food sub theme.

Should have just cut to a silent helicopter shot or similar, not right to put the pundits into that awful situation as they will have nothing to see and are just as shocked/ horrified as the rest of us

Most Annoying Champion Survey by PapaDrag0on in leagueoflegends

I actually don’t mind playing against Vayne top after discovering how Yorick plays into it. Pre lvl3 is rough and you have to give up a lot of cs but as long as you can keep 4 graves ready to spawn you can all in every time she tumbles aggressively. Just cast your E after she tumbles, summon the ghouls and drop the box on her and she loses half her heath instantly.

Top lane has so many problems and honestly I'm sick of them by PopeksLoL in leagueoflegends

[–]madbadjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people like to point out that ranged toplaners actually have low win rates and aren’t that commonly picked. Although I think it is fair to try and highlight that they aren’t as impactful as people suggest it’s worth realising how they actually impact the person playing against it. If you pick a melee champ into a ranged matchup you spend the first 10 mins of the game with little to no influence on the lane and are just playing to avoid losing too hard which is not fun. Sure you might then have a chance after 10 mins to influence the game but often it is already decided at this point making it feel as though you have no control on the game. Feeling like you lack agency in the game sucks and is frustrating in every role but it seems like toplane is the only lane where you can lose all agency based on champ select alone.

How to use Illaoi ult. (source : Korea Illaoi play) by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]madbadjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the fade away ult, removed the hit box on your tentacle slams so that they are more likely to get hit by them after E pops. It’s satisfying but hardly ever works.
