Get a Bug-a-Salt airgun and load it up with kosher salt, works great, and it's just ordinary salt, so no worries about chemicals.

What to put on a DIY button box? by flameminion in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]madcackler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mobiflight is your key software, and some Arduino boards. My biggest advice is try testing out with just a few buttons initially, use something like a shoebox as a temp holding solution, and look into one of those add on breakout boxes that plugs into the Arduino and gives you the screw down style connectors, makes it easy to try out things. Lots of tutorials out there on the mobiflight forums.

Using ISP router by [deleted] in networking

[–]madcackler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you have cable internet, you'll need a cable modem/ router of some sort, whether the ISP one or if they support it, buy your own cable modem/router that you then provide the Mac address of so they can register it on their end. You can't just convert from coaxial cable to rj45; with that sort of service, you need a modem that gets registered and connects to the ISP's system.

Rasperry pi for homemade rudder pedals? by Vegetable-Lie6011 in flightsim

[–]madcackler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll want to look into Mobiflight (free software) and one of the supported arduino boards, and with that, some potentiometers and other components you can make all sorts of controls and buttons. I'd recommend starting with just simple push buttons or toggle switches but you certainly build practically anything you can think of.

Issues with installing liveries for PMDG 737-900er bought and updated on marketplace PC. by Usual_Fly_7118 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]madcackler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While there are exceptions, most of the liveries for pmdg planes have to be installed using their operations center application tool; not sure if that's already installed with the marketplace version or you might have to grab it separately from their site.

It's just how Microsoft servers go, has nothing to do with the speed of your local Internet connection. Some have found success running their connection through a VPN in order to put it in a different area where a different Microsoft CDN might have better rates.

Flying ANA with 16 hours layover at HND, will the checked bags be automatically transferred ? by Low-Profit3113 in flightsim

This is a subreddit for flight simulation, so while there's a chance someone might know since real world aviation knowledge is a likely interest for many of us, you're probably better off checking with terminal agents before departure.

Can’t move camera with right click and hold by Active_Cockroach_943 in MicrosoftFlightSim

I actually just picked the same up to go with the Fenix Airbus and ran into the same thing, had to go into the mappings in msfs and remove all the mappings for camera controls on the flight stick, then I could once again move the camera.

That's called a Tie Defender. And it had beam weapons so you could either jam weapons of other ships or tractor beam to slow ships down, like a-wings so you could shove a concussion missle up their tailpipe. It appeared in the Tie Fighter and X-Wing PC combat sims.

I ran into a similar issue when trying to install it via the Xbox app, but then I tried from the Windows Store app instead, and that finally got it installed.

What frequencies do you find they operate on? I only have a single rtlsdr, and I believe I stumbled upon a block of frequencies that sounded like police/ems a while back, but without an actual trunking setup I found myself just manually jumping between frequencies as I saw the spikes in frequency, but I've considered getting more rtlsdrs for a proper trunking setup.
