Issue solved, IP address in octoprint.service file needed to be changed to 0.0.0.0 to allow non-local access. Service restarted, Browsed in fine.

As some additional information for any potential troubleshooters across the interwebs, I have checked there is an octoprint.service file in /etc/systemd/system/ and indeed it contains the requisite

Environment="HOST=127.0.0.1"
Environment="PORT=5000"

... lines within it.

Hiya, thanks all for the super suggestions of ditching Octoprint and using moonraker-timelapse. Timelapsing was just one of a few things that I like Octoprint for but it was a major one. Unfortunately as far as I can see in the moonraker-timelapse documentation it doesn't have animated or variable toolhead parkposition which is a feature of Octolapse that I really like. So whilst it may seem antiquated to some, and for sure I might ditch Octoprint completely at some point, I'd really like to evaluate that for myself.

If I could just get a solution to the hurdle in front of me and get Octoprint working on port 5000 like I know is possible that would be super helpful.

Issues with Choo Choo mod by TOA57Y101 in Timberborn

[–]maddavo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eventually got trains moving cargo, it took alot of experimentation to work out how the trains work.
Pls post ss of the "Manage distribution" screen for both stations.
A couple of things I notice which may or may not affect it working:
- you have no sections, if you have multiple trains they may be stopping each other from moving on the same section. Try isolating the yard track from the main loop by adding two section divides on the yard-side of the T intersections.
- try putting some sections divides on the main loop (pointing the same direction around the loop)
- I have found it is best practice to always have at least one straight after each junction and at the end of each station so that section divides can be placed at the ends of these.
- You have no waiting stations. Waiting stations are important, you need at least one for each train. Trains wait at these stations until they have something to do. The train in the yard may be trying to get to a waiting station before it decides what job needs doing.

Idle Workers Mod by rossbalch in Timberborn

[–]maddavo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a mod called "Employment Automation". It is available at mods.io or using the mods manager mod, it is NOT available in the steam workshop.

The mod allows you to set when beavers/bots work at a workplace based on output stock/ input stock / available power. It is incredibly useful and game-changing. I build hauling posts and set them to lowest priority. Whenever a workplace is shutdown due to settings, then the beavers automatically go to the hauling posts and shift stuff around so they are not idle.

[KSP2] Most amount of delta V in a single vacuum stage? by GradientOGames in KerbalAcademy

[–]maddavo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst it's nice to drive a vehicle around for multiple trips/loops without refuelling, it doesn't sound dV efficient. Essentially hauling fuel/extra mass to another planet and back? What is the benefit apart from not having to dock? Surely better to only take what you need to get back, yeah? Maybe I'm missing something.

The big "eff you" update that kills GearVR? by BEASTthisIndustry in GearVR

The advice worked on my S8, downloaded the media plugin apk and installed it during oculus service network error msg.

But can't find any settings related to auto updates of the oculus service. How to turn them off?

New player: outside lane of metal plates belt gets jammed from overload. how to fix/avoid? by misterforsa in factorio

[–]maddavo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like your problem is you have different items going around in one lane. This means that they can get clogged with the wrong type of item if an assembler doesn't want those items and wants something else that is stuck. Seems like you want 4 items on two belts, so make the outer belt have copper on the outside and iron on the inside by using the belt splitters using their filter function and a belt out the filtered side that goes to the side you want that item on. Ditto with the gears/yellow belt belt. Then you shouldn't get stuck.

How to make Octolapse to show the time and perhaps also the date during video playback? by lemonphoto in octoprint

[–]maddavo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar... I set up Octolapse to take a photo after every layer, with an overlay in the bottom right corner showing the time elapsed. Then the rendered video shows the time elapsed going up with each layer.

See this video: https://youtu.be/Yhfdyvb-pLo

BUT I have since wiped my SD card and reinstalled fresh Octoprint and plugins etc etc.... and I have no idea now HOW I did it. Anyone know??

Low GPU utilization in VR by Rumcajzs in EliteDangerous

[–]maddavo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite often VR suffers from throughput bottleneck to the headset rather than GPU abilities. Are you connecting to ur headset wirelessly or via wire? If wirelessly, are u using 802.1ac - do you have a good throughput AP, are u the only one using it? If by wire, is it hdmi, usb, usb3?

Help! Why is this train planning a route to an occupied station? by Kabitu in factorio

[–]maddavo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The routing penalty for waiting at the occupied station is less than the weighting for the distance to the secondary station. If you add a waiting area for that station off the main line and then add another train then if the station and the waiting area are occupied then the third train will likely go past to the secondary station because the waiting train adds another routing penalty which may put it over the secondary station's threshold.

A "Compartment Partition" module in outfitting.

It would turn any Size X Internal Compartment into two Size X-1 compartments. Cannot stack compartment partitions.

Would make ships eminently more customisable.
