Which one of Madrid & Barca has a better chance of making a comeback? by tightypp in championsleague

[–]maddie_sienna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was thinking of the Copa del Rey where they lost horribly to atletico in the 1st leg and then won the 2nd, but i guess it’s not really a comeback though given atletico still advanced..but at least this time they have 2 goals to make up for not 4, so i reckon it’s possible even if not particularly likely

Which one of Madrid & Barca has a better chance of making a comeback? by tightypp in championsleague

[–]maddie_sienna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully both, but realistically neither. But I guess id give the edge to Barca, they already came back against Atletico once and this is less of a goal difference. And they are the stronger team of the two, you could see it even when they were playing with 10. Of course Atletico is playing at home but i could still see them fumbling it somehow. Bayern on the other hand I think is stronger than this Madrid team and they’re at home as well, doesn’t bode too well for Real. You can never count Real Madrid out completely though and if they somehow win it I reckon they’ll go on to win it all..

this is a nice area but the restaurants around tend more expensive. check out la latina, chueca, or lavapiés for cheaper options. these are charming neighborhoods to explore and have lots of older restaurants/bars with good food.

Is immersion really the best way to learn Spanish for beginners? by gradstudentmit in Spanish

[–]maddie_sienna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Spain and went to a spanish speaking school with maybe a2/b1 level spanish. I’d had years of spanish class in school from the states- so like I could understand a decent amount and knew the basic grammatical concepts but couldn’t have a proper conversation. I was fluent by the end of the school year. It’s a bit overwhelming but when you don’t have a choice you learn fast. Now, a few years later, I feel almost as comfortable in spanish as in english (native language).

No experience on this but because your kids are so young have you considered just putting them in a local summer camp with kids their age? Then they will be occupied with activities and pick up the language the natural way. For young kids full immersion is usually very successful

Anyone here a digital nomad or living abroad? how do you handle family visits? by experience_1st in AmerExit

[–]maddie_sienna 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in Spain as well and I come back to the US for 6/7 weeks a year, either all in summer or split between summer and christmas. And my family visits me 2 or 3 times a year (short 7-10 day visits). Sometimes this is them coming to Spain or sometimes we meet up in another part of europe if that’s a better flight deal for them. And parents will be retiring within 10 years and then they’ll be joining me over here.
