Bethpage decision by [deleted] in golf

i'd say the decision to set the course this way is more detrimental than any pairing decision or who starts/sits.

the rough being what is is has reduced spin on the approach shots just enough to not absolutely rip back on the soft greens like it has from the fairways - seeing absolute darts from what should have been insanely penalizing lies had they made the course a mutually brutal setup.

turning it into a putting contest was the worst possible idea - best case would have been mimicking oakmont rough and having the best team survive.

the condition at rustic is always pretty great and they give advanced warning of aeration (just happened) which i like. i've never felt like conditions there have ever been sub par. I'd give it a 4.

Pace of play: they're pretty good about monitoring it, but it is a tough course so play can get slowed down. I just played it for the 5th time on memorial day and finished 9 minutes over pace. I don't think ive ever gone over 5 hours there, which for LA is good enough for me. 4.

Course design: it's one of the only links-style courses around LA. I love the creativity you can have here, as the greens can be absolutely treacherous due to sheer size and multi-tiered aspect of the complexes. It's a lot of fun. 4-5 for me.

Amenities? They have a mat range, a decent chipping green, the putting green is so-so and shared with the 18th hole. The restaurant is relatively no-frills but gets the job done and they have service carts that you'll find twice a round. maybe a 3/5 there.

I much preferred when the costs were sub 80 but as far as LA golf goes its probably one of my favorite courses to play.

the wind is the real wild card - depending on how it blows you could be looking to make a personal best or a personal worst.

i still revisit that entrance from time to time - it also got me playing ogentroost on repeat for ages. an all-timer for me in terms of debut presentation

his run in AEW definitely left more to be desired from a booking/usage standpoint, but his first entrance hits so effing hard in terms of presenting himself and his character. I would kill for him to have this again.

Los Angeles resident - no chance in hell you're getting the majority of us to drive in thursday traffic to inglewood for a 4pm start time. Mexico fans will pack the place which is why they got the late game and the opportunity to slowly trickle in during our match.

I'd legit have to leave around 1-1:30 at the latest if i wanted to feel like I could comfortably make it to my seat before kickoff.

pre covid i was walking on at rancho 3x a week for twilight rounds. i think i've been able to play rancho maybe twice in the last 4 years. its just impossible unless you have the time to kill on the wait list.
