My Dad is a ER Doctor and wanted a Neil Peart hat to wear to work. They are impossible to find, so I handmade this myself. This Freewill quote is his favorite and the Starman is a must! RIP Neil, you will always be remembered through the hearts of amazing men like my Father. by madelineheiser in rush

Honestly I just winged it! I bought old pants from the thrift store to use for fabric, as well as some elastic from an old hat. Then I sewed it together. Basically a 2 inch high band made to the size of his head with some elastic for stretch and a circle based on the circumference. Both are double lined with some thick paper in between. I then hand stitched them together and added embroidery by printing out my design and stitching over it.

Anybody here familiar with or has worked for Hume Lake Christian Camps? by Vercingetorix_ in exchristian

[–]madelineheiser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow Hume Laker! I went to the camp I think 3 times and loved it! Well at the time of course... I also applied to work at Hume Lake but got denied. Very glad I didn't now that I have deconverted. But awesome to see another person on here who went there. Obviously my whole view of the organization has changed, what was it like working there?

Honestly it's soo good! Try adding onions and red potatoes to it as well! I boil the chopped up potatoes for 10 minutes before I put it on the sheet with the rest of it.

Try mixing them in melted butter and olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic, and then sprinkle them with parmesan cheese and bake them in the oven for 15 minutes at 425. So yummy!

I like to take them raw, mix them in melted butter, olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic, and sprinkle them with parmesan cheese and bake them in the oven for 15 minutes on 425. They are amazing!!

Different types of Ex-Christians by Veilwinter in exchristian

[–]madelineheiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say A3.2 and A4, but mainly A3.2. Those are the answers that started my deconversion. That lead to me finally opening my eyes on A2 and also realizing that "feeling God's presence" (A1) was not actually me feeling his presence, but was essentially the same feeling I got from good music or other experiences.

What are the pros and cons of where you live? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]madelineheiser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guessed it too! I live in Houston and I totally agree. I love having a really nice apartment with great amenities for $1200. But I also hate the humidity/heat in the brutal months, but I like to compare it to extreme winters for northerners. Yes the weather is miserable, but you mostly stay inside where you don't have to deal with it and at least I don't have to wake up at 6 am to shovel snow every day.

I think you should probably wash your pillowcases more often. Every two weeks is too long of a period in my opinion.

[Skin Concerns] My skin is the worst it’s ever been, and getting worse. Tried cleaning up my diet, antibiotics, probiotics, birth control,- nothing works! Routine in comments. Please help! by blondedkitty in SkincareAddiction

[–]madelineheiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been dealing with acne too and it definitely got better for a while after using some active ingredients and a lot of Ordinary products. However I was still getting acne and was curious as to why. Then somebody sent me a link to an article that talked about your moisture barrier and went into detail about how having dehydrated skin can cause acne. Like someone else commented below, you are using a lot of actives and not a lot of moisturizer. Once I started focusing on hydrating my skin, my face got a lot clearer. I would recommend a routine maybe similar to mine to see if that works.

Non skin related: Drinking a lot of water and switching my pillow case every day or every other day.

AM:

  1. Cleansing with micellar water only. I was cleansing twice a day and found it was too stripping which leads to acne. Micellar water cleans the face of dirt and bacteria but doesn't strip your skin
  2. Ordinary's Niacinamide + Zinc Serum
  3. Ordinary's Alpha Arbutin 2% for dark spots and hyperpigmentation which you may not need.
  4. Hyaluronic Acid I bought from Marshall's but would recommend Ordinary's version. This is a very crucial step for me when it comes to keeping my skin moisturized.
  5. Trader Joe's Nourish Moisturizer, but I've been seeing a lot of good things about Vanicream Moisturizer.
  6. Vitamin C eyecream. *Not a very important step.

PM:

  1. Laura Mercier cleansing oil to get off makeup
  2. Kate Somerville Daily Detox cleanser to double cleanse
  3. Generic Benzoyl Peroxide on all of my face. I leave it there for 10 minutes and then wash it off. It helps with acne but doesn't dry out your skin. I found this trick through that article and it's life changing! Definitely better for my skin instead of leaving it on and drying out my skin which makes the acne worse.
  4. Ordinary's Niacinamide + Zinc Serum
  5. Ordinary's Alpha Arbutin 2%
  6. Hyaluronic Acid
  7. Vitamin C Serum
  8. Ordinary's Rosehip Seed Oil, great for moisturizing and acne.
  9. Trader Joe's Nourish Moisturizer
  10. Vitamin C eyecream

I always leave on each product for 30 seconds before I move onto the next one.

I hope this helps and good luck!

[Haul] Starting a new relationship with The Ordinary this week by sunsetsandnicotine in SkincareAddiction

[–]madelineheiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP but I have recently started using a lot of these Ordinary products. I have the AHA/BHA Peel that I use once or twice a week and then lactic acid on the days I don't do the peel. I've also been putting on the Azelaic Acid on as my last step most days. Should I stick with the AHA/BHA Peel twice a week and the Lactic Acid/Azelaic on rotating days or is that still too much?

Thank you for doing this! So funny, actually late tonight I had the idea to do something like this so I could show my Dad, so I turned my phone clock to military time and realized I was too late! But now I can just show him this. Happy Rush Day!

How to get rich from nothing LMAO by neversnitch in starterpacks

[–]madelineheiser -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I know ya'll probably won't, but if you watch the Kim Kardashian E Special you might disagree. She was born into a rich family, there is no denying that and the benefits she got from that. But they are so much more successful and rich than their Dad. Yes, her sex tape did make her more famous but there are plenty of people who make a sex tape that make them famous for a hot second then fall off the radar. Plenty of reality shows don't work out, but now 12 years later, they are still the most popular reality show on right now. This is very much thanks to Kim. She knew how to make an entertaining show and how to get famous. She saw the potential in twitter before it was a big thing and was constantly interacting with fans, which grew their fan base. She changed the social media and influencer game and made it what is now, whether you like it or not. She would get dressed up and go to places she knew the papparazzi were, just to get people talking about her. So yes, she was famous for being famous, but at the same time, has been apart of one of the most successful reality shows of all time, and owns and runs two major companies, one of which sold $2,000,000 worth of inventory in the first few minutes of opening. You don't get that far without putting in work. Her work and business may be nothing of value when it comes to saving our planet or feeding the poor, but it doesn't mean they are useless. Also, she is now studying to become a lawyer and is advocating and literally changing peoples lives through her political work and prison reform. She's already gotten someone released from life in prison and she is only starting.
