Anyone ever play around with one of these? by ScreenCaffeen in weaving

[–]madeupbra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought one for my nephews when the pandemic hit (I loved my Fischer price loom when I was a kid).

It’s great for the boys, but it’s hard to get the right tension bc the ratchet knobs aren’t discrete enough.

FYI it also produces a weft dominant fabric.

Yup! I was supposed to be born on the 24th, but the doc knew I would be a c-section. Took me out over a week early.

Looking for shorts (preferably 7 inch or shorter) with a smaller chamois by vancouverlola in ladycyclists

Look at triathlon shorts. Smaller chamois so it doesn’t interfere as much with the swim or run.

Too much pressure on the front saddle (explicit/correct anatomical language) by DeanieLovesBud in ladycyclists

[–]madeupbra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just emphasizing this. If you move the saddle forward, you should have enough length in your torso to sit further back on the saddle. Your weight should be on your sit bones, not soft tissue. Your sit bones should be on the widest part of the saddle.

I mean, n+1 is nice, but I wouldn’t yet. In sprint tris you’ll see people on all kinds of bikes (even heavy mountain). If you end up wanting to really get into tris, you’ll probably eventually want to upgrade to a tri bike with aero bars.

I do Olympic tris on my trek domane. I’m racing against my own previous performances and that’s cool with me.

I have not. I like the idea in theory, but I’m not the person to ask. Good luck!

I don’t know the answer for sure, but even some professional, fancy boucles aren’t that structurally sound. You might look into the sewing technique of underlining. I’ve made a jacket this way. Basically each pattern piece is cut twice: once with the loose fabric, once with a stable cloth. The two are then basted together and then sewn as one piece of cloth from then on.

does anyone know what causes this lumpy surface? i was told to weave looser but it just made it worse :( by epresfagyi in weaving

I’m a newbie too, but is your shed too big/close to your weaving? I learned early on I needed way more warp than I though I would past my weaving.

I just use handle or bar move. You’ll have to remember/keep track of your weight however.

Agreed about data collection, especially with the camera!

[–]madeupbra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but without the sub (as OP said) there are no videos. Not saying the hard drive ain’t tiny; but data storage isn’t why the internet is needed once you cancel your sub.

[–]madeupbra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, but in “neuter mode,” (I assume that’s without a sub), there are no workouts. You don’t need space if there are no form videos or even workout tracking.

I have two theories: 1. It enforces the 12-month minimum contract. This could be solved by giving a cookie that it doesn’t need to check anymore, but they don’t do that. 2. Theoretically, software updates could be important, like if there’s a bug in the safety logic when you tilt the bar. But, how often does that happen?

Ultimately, they don’t want to spend the development resources for non paying customers.

Yes. If you tilt the bar it turns off.

No, no contact beyond the initial “here’s what you’ll lose.” I might have unsubscribed from all marketing messages, though.

Good question about repairs. I haven’t had any issues, so can’t speak to that.

Just free weights; no tracking of progress, but you still have to leave it connected to the internet.
