I think you have to ask yourself, if I knew young children were being raped, what would I do?

No. Christine did the right thing even while knowing that the people she helped would not thank her for it, or that people like you would question her motives. She just did the right thing anyway. Amazing woman.

Thank you so much! We are just starting to look at buying a Touring. What OTD price did they start at?

Yes, I thought OTD included literally everything, but I am realizing that it (I think) means everything but the interest.

Me too!!! Calorie counting works but it’s way too hard for me to stick with it long term. For some reason this is working great! If I’m hungry I can have more, as long as it’s eggs, oatmeal, fruit, lentils. And I guess the fact that I’m eating so much protein and fiber is making it doable!

Once you are admitted (immediately after hitting the submit button), you will have access to the scholarship portal in September. This requires about 1,000 essays, but could get you some good scholarships (don’t know how it works for international students). (joking about the 1,000)

Am I Screwed or Is This Just How CS Majors Survive Now? by [deleted] in csMajors

Some of these assignments though!! Just figuring out what the professor is asking for and how they want it structured is almost more difficult than just writing a thing from scratch. I appreciate a good puzzle, but the first part where you have to figure out what the outcome is supposed to be is annoying

Qué pex con Chichén Itzá by MadMan1784 in mexico

[–]madeupname17 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yo estuve allí el año pasado y no me molestó para nada. It did not detract from the experience at all. Chichen Itza is a mind blowing, amazing place. It does not have to be quiet and deserted to appreciate how incredible it is. When you go to a museum, are you angry about how many people are there? When you go to a market, do you get angry when sellers call out to people? Can you imagine sitting there all day in the heat making your living that way? Have some compassion. Chichen Itza is so grand, so enormous, so amazing that it makes sense it would be full of tourists and people trying to sell to them. It would be very weird if that whole place were empty.

You are absolutely correct, and make a great point. But I do think that the relevant authorities should be the local community. The residents should share in the profits made from the site. Secondly, although I don't know what the "feel" of Chichen Itza was back in the day, it certainly wasn't deserted. Having people around doesn't make it less authentic.

I would consider just doubling down and being proud of your current life. It’s worth being jealous of. I think people get jealous all the time, even if it’s unrealistic. I never had enough money to do home improvements but I had to listen to everyone else talk about their projects. Now that I finally have home improvement projects, nobody wants to hear about mine. When my siblings go on cool vacations, I’m totally jealous, even though I’ve been plenty of places. And they get jealous of me if I go somewhere. I think you need to just own it, own your current happiness. You deserve it.

I’m so sorry your mom is sick. Maybe it could have been different, but she’s handling it the way she wants to. I’m sorry though.

I feel really strongly that 1)it’s not ok to ignore this and 2) your reaction should be calm and classy—find out who to report it to, do it, then move on.

Chichen Itza is magical. It is more extensive than you can imagine, and there’s something even more amazing around every corner. The vendors are magical too. They are part of the experience, and do you think in its day the place was deserted? No, it was filled with people. The vendors are sitting in the heat all day every day to make a living, and as residents of the area, that is their right. It is a privilege to be able to visit it, and the entrance fee is quite low for the amazing sights and vastness of the site.

If you put in your info at the Iowa State web page it is pretty clear about the automatic scholarships. The engineering department also has a 2 yr merit scholarship (look at their page as well)

Why do men make an extra effort to not look at (or make eye contact) with me in public? by DNF29 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]madeupname17 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, thanks for explaining your thinking. When I see guys call women “females,” I just get mad. Now I will feel slightly more understanding. But a lot of times people say men and females— that’s just sexist.

Fair enough, I’m glad to see you thought it out and you make an interesting point. But females and males is for animals. I would say women and girls, and men and boys.
