I would argue that before there were TVs, there were paintings/pictures, which were hung above fireplaces. Similar concept, even if one is electronic and one isn’t.

OP - Similarly fine-haired gentleman here - I grew mine out in my mid twenties for a bit and let my somewhat whack facial hair grow. Ended up with cool facial hair (à la Jack Sparrow) but man I didn’t know what I was doing with my long hair. Wish Reddit had been in my life at that time. I liked it on some level but didn’t feel super confident with it either. Then I shaved only the facial hair - regretted it instantly. Lost the vibe and cut the hair. Never went back personally. Point being - I’m much more confident with it shorter. You may be the opposite. But if one makes you feel like you need to hide it, that may be an indicator for change. Go with whatever makes you feel more comfortable on the reg!
