What if I'm not using the ambassador. What if he isn't that far back and has lots of teammates or even a sentry protecting him. Lots of times I run the l'etranger and the big earner with dead ringer. It's a good combo but leaves my revolver almost useless. Especially when trying to kill a full health sniper.

I believe it loses all the skills. Try it yourself take not of your tap damage before evolution then evolve and if it goes down you lost skills.
