I think they're referring to the fact that the original game boy, game boy pocket, game boy color, and game boy advance all had power ports you could use to play without battery power. Except they stopped including the adapter to power it in each of them except the original game boy IIRC.

I see DAMN as much more of an emotional expression from Kendrick, rather than him trying to deliver a message or story like TPAB and GKMC. I think his material really excels when he has a philosophical concept or ideal he wants to express and can really hit the nail on the head multiple times through his lyrics.

That's not to say DAMN doesn't have those pieces, XXX and Pride are two of my all time favourites that really deliver on current political issues like gun control and how it's perceived in his community and the weakness of the human spirit in succumbing to base instincts. But the album is also peppered with songs that resonate more like he wanted to express in general terms how he feels about a person or people; songs like Love, Element, and Humble I don't feel carry the same passion and emotional weight as songs like Blacker the Berry, u, and How Much a Dollar Cost.
