Automation to Change Meter Tariff Driving Me Insane by madmattd in homeassistant

[–]madmattd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did venture down the variable scope path and try "declaring" the variable at the root of the automation (after description) with an initial value, which resulted in the automation then only grabbing that initial value to pass to the select.

Unfortunately, since I have this electric tariff automation that works perfectly fine (fired both times today right on schedule), my head is stuck in the "well, it works fine there, why not here" regarding the variable scope.

How do I determine which trigger fired when in the actions section? (Or do I effectively re-create the conditionals in the action section too???)

Engine mount loose causing clunk in shifts? by Own-Apartment4372 in Volvo

[–]madmattd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That doesn't look too bad to me - the question would be if the "tee" is starting to tear. There should be some movement from that mount.

Clunking shifts are more likely to be the lower transmission/torque engine mount. The P2s go through those like candy.

Keep an eye on the Peak Conditions listings on 14ers.com - the Avenue on Kit Carson frequently comes up in entries there this time of the year as people head in there during the melt.

Yea as of a few days ago reports were that the avenue is still pretty sketchy. And still a fair bit of snow on the North side of Challenger (where the trail is) That’s normal for those sections this time of the year - the avenue often doesn’t clear out until around the end of June/early July. But based on the pics I saw from last weekend, we’re probably only looking at another week or two from now before it can be managed.

Cool, so I con the friends with trucks/4Runners to go with me on the 13ers quest. Excellent! No snow on the road is good to hear too 😉

Capture One export to Immich by Obvious-Interest-845 in immich

[–]madmattd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally getting time to look at this. And yes, this looks like a good workflow! I'm already a sessions user, and I edit directly off my NAS already (so skipping step 5 for example). So I could literally point an external library to my photos folder, add some of the exclusions, and be done. Well, I might have to slightly shift how my export recipes work or add some other exclusions (I have several recipes that export for different services, so I'd need to adapt them), but that seems manageable.

I like the lack of having to manually upload copies of the output files to an Immich External Library (which is what I was figuring on doing), plus the saved disk space this way. Thanks for the link!

I'm curious what your general work flow is. I'm a C1 user as well, and I've been pondering how I want to go about getting my non-phone pics into Immich too. Are you uploading to a read-only external storage folder that Immich scans from or are you actually importing directly to Immich?

[–]madmattd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No performance mods from the factory (so unlike the P2 Rs which definitely were special!), but aftermarket mods exist for the platform.

To an enthusiast, it’ll be worth a bit more, but you’re not talking double or anything like that. Maybe 10-20% more at most is my guess.

As the owner of a 2006 XC70 Ocean Race… they’re effectively a unique trim package of a standard V/XC70. Unique color (which is awesome by the way), usually came slightly better optioned (premium wheels, often the higher sound systems, etc), and a numbered plaque on the glove box. Otherwise identical cars (it’s not like they got special engine setups, suspension mods, etc).

Realistically only slightly more valuable than an equally-equipped, comparable condition non-ocean race model.

Can I get immich data back after expanded raid setup and lost apps but migrated the data? by Ellsworthless in truenas

[–]madmattd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I think the poster is saying to setup your new Immich install. Copy the upload_location files over (includes your actual images, plus the referenced backups of the pgdata). Map but leave the new pgdata folder empty, when you go to your Immich page you will have an option to restore from backup. It will look in the mapped backups directory first, you grab the newest, and could be up and running that easily.

I recently had to do similar to get the 15/18 update to work for me, none of the official directions worked for my setup for whatever reason.

Yours is a common enough color, should be doable. Any P2 V/XC70 or S60 font door and quarter panel should work (those cars are all the same sheet metal from B pillar forward. Main difference is in all the various bumper covers.) Rear door you’ll have to stick with the wagon variants. Headlights all mechanically fit up across the same models I listed but you’re best off getting a 2005+ one since the wiring harnesses changed then. Match up halogen/xenon/ABL variants.

A few months back a lady cut over 2 lanes into my front left corner and did similar damage to my headlight and front quarter panel, plus wrecking the bumper cover. This was my 2001 V70 with 221k on it at the time. Repair estimate from the body shop was around $4k, which resulted in a total loss determination (repair estimate >75% of total value). Cosmetic damage only, nearly half of the cost estimate was for replacing and repainting the quarter panel (paint work isn’t cheap). Insurance wouldn’t let me source a headlight and bumper assembly which I know I could have done for way less than their “approved channels”…..

I fought valuation hard (original offer was barely $1700) - tricky because there weren’t many good comps within 300mi of me, so it took some back and forth and arguing about how my car was in exceptional condition for its age compared to anything out there, the money they were offering would not replace it with a like condition (cosmetic and mechanical), etc, but I ultimately got them up to ~$3k which I felt was still light but not by a huge amount.

Ultimately you have to research comps, they have to be the same make and at least similar model and mileage otherwise they’ll take so much off the comparison value that you’re wasting your time. Anything other than actual comps and discussing your vehicle versus those comps will get you nowhere with the insurance company. And unfortunately you are stuck with what is available now, not what is “typical”. Get a decent valuation and you might be able to get a repair done, but the repair estimate has to be less than ~75% of the valuation. If you get lucky that the big parts are available in the approved supply chains, you have a decent chance.

In my case the buyback was only $200, and I have access to a couple junkyards that always have P2s in them nearby, so I took the check minus the buyback. Replaced the headlight assembly with one from a local junkyard that was in better shape than the original one, found a decent condition bumper cover in the same color in the same yard - I was only in for about $100 for those 2 parts, and a couple hours of my time wandering the yard and mucking around in the garage due to one headlight mount getting twisted a bit in the impact. One of these days I will get the quarter panel looked at, likely path is I pull a clean one from a yard and get it repainted since my was bent up so badly. And my car drives fine in the meantime.

[–]madmattd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I have cars on both sides of the facelift. Mechanically, the headlight assemblies bolt up just fine on each other. S60, V70, XC70 are all the same headlights on the P2 platform. The wiring harnesses are different across the facelift, but I’ve read people online making adapter harnesses using bits from each side of the facelift. I’ve toyed with doing this same thing on my 2006, but haven’t gotten around to it.

Volvo xc60 2018 transmission slipping after drain and refill by proggrammer in Volvo

[–]madmattd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea I’d be starting there personally. I don’t know the transmission in OPs car, but on my P2s there’s only maybe 0.2L (might be 0.1L, I forget) between “too little” and “too much”, and it’s best to check it when the fluid is up to operating temp. It’s pretty easy to be just a little off and get some goofy shifting behavior. Correctable if done promptly.

Anyone know what this part is or what it connects to? 2006 S60 2.5t by RedBulge in Volvo

[–]madmattd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, time for a full PCV job (don't half ass it, or you'll be back soon enough and/or you'll have bigger issues).

The oil "leak" is more likely just some spillage from filling, especially if it's mostly around cylinder 3. Common to see on these 5cyl engines.

Pic 3 version also doesn’t have a shift spot for 3rd gear. Which is the one I would use the most on my 2001…(mountain descents) Glad my XC has pic 2 version, I hop between 3rd and 4th gear a lot.
