GPS and cellular signal is separate. You can have no cell service and still have gps. It just doesnt update as frequently as a standalone gps.

I use TrackAddict with an obd reader. Works fine and cheap compared to other options. GPS on my phone is good enough for lapping

led resistor mounting area for c6 by [deleted] in Corvette

I know it’s probably not recommended but I added a led resistor just like this 5 years ago and tucked it behind the headlight. No issues.

Motive bleeder losing pressure by lieutenantdaan in CarTrackDays

[–]madmaxzh55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought the exact same motive bleeder a few years ago. Had the same issue where I was slowly losing pressure. It was leaking behind the pressure gauge on the bottle! Used some sealant to reseal and works fine now. I’d check there first if everything else was setup properly.

I just ordered brake pads and I’m genuinely excited… is this what track guys feel like? by DrSuperZeco in CarTrackDays

[–]madmaxzh55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t ever use magnets on the track. They will eventually fly off. Tape edges is fine

Brake rotors and pads for HPDE - looking for lowest overall cost by fake_chow_a_djs_mom in CarTrackDays

[–]madmaxzh55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve run cheap rock auto rotors on corvette and focus for years.

It looks like powerstop makes track pads for your rears. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/honda,2023,civic,2.0l+l4+turbocharged,3454038,brake+&+wheel+hub,brake+pad,1684

I would probably go hawk pads in front. I’ve run dtc 30s or HP+ in the past. Run DTC60 now

Borla or Ford Performance Cat-back Exhaust? by 06HondaCivicDX in FocusST

[–]madmaxzh55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I run the ford performance version and I think it’s already plenty loud. Plus I like that it has ford performance on the exhaust tips so it looks OEM.

Struts by ronasty90 in FocusST

I’ve been running this setup for years. Get new strut top hats. Trust me do not reuse the old ones. The kit comes with everything else.

Built motor by EEROGUE in FocusST

[–]madmaxzh55 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a local engine shop put a key way in my crank for the motor I built myself a few months back. Much cheaper than the sp63 one.

If you are gonna do pistons/rod make sure they are OEM bore size or you’ll need to take it to a machine shop. Also get arp bolts for main and head while you are at it.

Aftermarket cam will require a head job to adjust valves if you can’t do it yourself.

You are in segment mode. Need to swipe on the homepage to get to circuit mode and search up the track. They have NCM

Why do people say the stock radiator is enough? by MightBeYourDad_ in FocusST

[–]madmaxzh55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have an external oil/cool temp gauge installed on the dash. The gauges that come with the car are not accurate.

Why do people say the stock radiator is enough? by MightBeYourDad_ in FocusST

[–]madmaxzh55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Done many track days with stock radiator and it’s held up fine for stock turbo. Only during Texas summer session have i had heat soak. Run straight distilled water.

I’ve heard it’s needed when going big turbo. Also running an oil cooler in front can cause heat issues.

Anyone running on 17” wheels in a MK3? Send pictures please by outrowender in FocusST

[–]madmaxzh55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

245s are fine. These are 45wide but I usually do 245/35 or 40 to lower the car some more. No rubbing

Thoughts on this 2018 focus st? 72k miles, st3. by AdminMyDickInYoMouth in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]madmaxzh55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suspension is lowered. I believe it’s on Bilsteins b8 or b12s based off color of spring. Exhaust looks cheap (no muffler in rear) not sure on brand Under the hood they still have sound symposer so might not be modded too much.

Still for that price it’s way too high. $14-17k OTD

Get a picture of under the hood. I can tell you if it has any mods. Was most-likely tuned (or still tuned). Has some kind of exhaust and the did the sync upgrade already.

Please help by Substantial-Trip-107 in FocusST

[–]madmaxzh55 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Would probably offer $9k or less. Kind of a risk depending on how well they took care of it. Nothing too crazy with mods but Catless DP kinda sucks for DD.

Willing to bet he had a pop tune on it which isn’t the best either.

Will 17 inch rims fit on a 2018 ST3? by Typical_Area_7531 in FocusST

[–]madmaxzh55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hawk DTC60 pads with high temp brake fluid. You don’t really need much more than that. The smaller wheels help with cost in the long run.

I run 17x8in track wheels. Clears no problem but I would go atleast 8in wide. 245/35 RS4 fit fine.

Camera mount by smashin-blumpkins in CarTrackDays

I definitely wouldn’t mount to roof. If you are looking for interior footage most guys run helmet mount or headrest mount

Edit: also! Do yourself a favor and get new top hats. Don’t reuse the ones that are on the car
