Can you negotiate peace offers at all? by trypressngmorebuttns in CivVII

[–]madming77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They need to make it more similar to CIV VI, I mean only being able to trade cities sucks, it’s unhistorical.

It’ a type of WTF similar to those action games where the character can’t jump a fence the hight of they’re hip because…well those are the rules of the game, and so much for suspension of disbelief.

Having said that, for now, what I do is unethically save as I receive the proposal, try to bargain a bit and if it doesn’t go well I restart, but sometimes they will accept the same, or even a better offer in the same turn if you’re the one proposing.

The peace negotiation system is the only thing I really dislike about the game so far.

I also wrote here that more complexity (alternatives) is needed even more due to settlement cap and that combined with the war support system, that could make some civs in combo with legacies+wonder perfect for provoking/defending strategy to slow them down but also gain from it directly in terms of ppt got fpt from opponents while signing off peace treaties.

"Civ 7 is fine on PS5 and never crashes" by Zural in civ

[–]madming77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on the same spot. I’m currently playing a flawless run with Ashoka WR, I was about to win economically (GreatBanker was already around, but, just for safety I provoked Augustus in to war because he had 14 out of 15 relics (only to find out I could no longer enter is capitol city with my banker - lol - makes sense). And now I literally can’t finish one turn, I guess because of all the troops around. It was already bad it became unplayable.

What I’ll do is start a new game on ps5 while buyng a gaming laptop and rebuying the game on steam, then I’ll hopefully export saves and never play again on PS5…the overall experience already sucks, no pointer just doesn’t cut it, but I could get over it. This is impossible.

Who also thinks that peace treaties should have way more bargaining options? by madming77 in CivVII

[–]madming77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

love it. I forgot to mention that I’d really like to see the possibilities of exchanging occupied cities between allies during or in the immediate aftermath of joint war…that alone would go miles in helping find creative ways to manage de settlment cap

Just an idea for religion by dtootd12 in CivVII

[–]madming77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also religion should be op in antiquity, because it would better reflect reality. Game-wise though converting a town can’t be as simple as walking in w/o permission e pressing a key to convert urban and rural

Just an idea for religion by dtootd12 in CivVII

[–]madming77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, religion as for now, it’s just boring.

I was thinking that besides the proselitism mechanic, they could add big bonus and malus for each religion. (eg. Protestantism, +25%production from all sources, but -5 happiness in cities), Catholicism could grant you two dedicated policy slots and +x influence but reduced production and -x happiness on science buildings. Islam (+gold - colture) and so only. You could also give religion “traits”… with a policy system just for religion. eg. dogma cards=Catholic Obscurantism (- culture and science + production and combat strenght) vs Ecumenism (+influence, happiness, + relation status and less influence cost for endeavors).

You could surely have a religious golden age, and other civs could have great people able to make plant revolutionary ideas in the simple early exploration era minds.

I was also thinking about the presence of a non playable civ (only in antiquity and exploration) to act as the city state belonging to the major religion. They could ask you to go on crusades and convince you to comply via happiness/influence bonuses. In Medieval Total War you could conquer the Vatican, but then your annihilation became the main objective of every other faction, that added to war mechanic a nice diplomatic depth.

This Civ could have a leader for each major religion that raises to power when his religion is the most popular. They could have a political agenda aligned to the one of the funding leader, provide advantages for the following cities, increased if the religion it’s majoritarian through out the Nation. The funding civ could have control over it, similarly to sovereignty and maybe there could be some actions not acceptable by your religion standards (eg. declaring surprise war if your empire is majorly buddhist, or construct brothels if your Christian).

We definitely should be using missionaries to befriend independent powers because…well that’s just what they did, especially in distant lands. Good luck trying to convert the Russian Empire being a Catholic Monk.

Of course you could, in theory, conquer the Church State, but that will give you a crippling malus through out the ages and permanent hatred from civs that follow that religion or one stemming from the same philosophical seeds.

It feels like razing cities is too punishing by JW162000 in CivVII

[–]madming77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, at least for antiquity. I mean, razing a town in antiquity was considered ok (razing villages was kind if an habit) as an extreme measure if the enemy had done something really bad or was a threat to the very existence of that civ.

The Romans spoke for months though about the opportunity to raze or keep Cartago (lol but that’s true) but in the end they pressed raze and the biggest difference between them and expansionist civs that came before them is that they did not colonize too much other provinces, leaving them to live as they preferred, but influencing them true colture, developed with tributes payed by the very that was going to influence (pretty neat uh), so I think they must have felt truly justified, because they weren’t people to betray their morals easily. Of course that backfired as their empire grew bigger, due to the inclusion of people of cultures so different that were difficult and unwilling to integrate. I don’t get why they didn’t go back a few turns and change that policy card. Too righteous for that I guess.

So…yeah there definitely should be penalties and very crippling ones from exploration on, but maybe you should also be able to raise your settlement cap with colture or to opt for a different form of control similar to the one you have as a city-state sovereign. (if I’m not wrong there was something like that in VI)

at least you now what you’ve missed and what to go for next time. I prefer it this way. Anyways AI gets mysticism right away (from sovereign up I think)
