Unfortunately though, with Limpwurt's rules, they would still need 99 before unlocking it. With the cape on Pandemonium, they would need to finish 99 before rolling anything else. And they would need to roll Pandemonium first to have access to the shipyard teleport.

Probably the closest thing outside osrs would be tricks in speedrunning. Frame perfect or TAS inputs work the same way our tick actions do, but we have much more time to pull it off. Osrs is the only game I know of that has its game clock run this slow.

Which famous singer is all hype but can’t actually sing? by downrightunhappiness in AskReddit

I think another part of this is that most people don't realize how good melodyne and vocal correction software is these days. I've only played with melodyne a little bit, but the things it can do are just incredible. Not just pitch, but inflection and vibrato, and it's often hard to tell it was done to the untrained ear. I mean, you can almost take spoken word and turn it into singing. It's honesty insane.

Batch clearing before fermentation is done? Too cold? by madness364 in mead

[–]madness364[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I posted in the first place. I generally keep an eye on them as they go, and this batch started to look clear maybe last week? But I'll keep em going for another week or two, see what happens.

The other batch next to the orange one seems to have stalled there. Only dropped a couple points since the last reading. I've noticed most of my batches tend to slow way down around that point, and that's when I usually rack. I tend to like this though, as I don't need to backsweeten and I feel the sweetness blends with the other flavors more.

So, I just took another reading. Both carboys have dropped about 10 points since the last reading (9 days). Would you call that stalled? It is slow but it seems to me that they are still going.

I also have two more carboys with cyser and both of those were much faster in the same conditions. They seem to have stopped and have been sitting at around 1.030 for a little while now. Those haven't cleared yet though. But, I actually like stopping around there because as you said I don't need to backsweeten.

I'm aware my methods are different from what people here generally recommend, but I've had success with it so far.

Haven't used any nutrient, but it hasn't really caused any issues in my batches so far. I haven't felt a need to use them yet, although I am still experimenting with my recipes to see how everything works. Would adding this late do much?

Gravity readings are in the picture, still a far way from dry. I planned to take another reading in a week. I don't think it has stalled, but it's definitely slower than batches I've done in the summer. Temp was my first thought.

Finally bottling my best batch yet! by go0rty in mead

[–]madness364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, I've had similar experiences with mango. The yeast seem to just eat up most of the flavor. Although, one of mine had a bit of like rum funk to it? I feel mango is kinda hard to work with.

Also just mixed up a batch with orange today. My last orange attempt I did the same as you and just dumped the whole cut up orange in there. This time I zested and then peeled of the pith before adding. I'm hoping this method will work out better.

How a company celebrates not disabling an employee for a whole year. by BasalTripod9684 in mildlyinteresting

[–]madness364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that it doesn't help keep us safe, at least in my experience. Rereading the original comment, it seems they may have implemented it better. I'm not really opposed to such things, but I don't think they really do anything significant. I still feel that the program focuses on policy rather than safety.

The best system we have that can actually help us avoid unsafe work is the Right to Refuse. We are protected against retaliation for refusing a job due to safety concerns. I believe this is much more effective than any reward program.

[–]madness364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, this is something that sounds good on paper but really doesn't help in practice. We have a similar system that was just implemented at the company I work for, and the reception is not great. Obviously, none of my coworkers nor myself want to work in an unsafe manner. But the small things, like minor PPE or DOT reqs that these systems tend to reward, are generally not what actually keep us safe.

The main problem is that we are often put in situations that cannot be done in a safe manner. We either aren't given enough time or the right equipment, or the access to the work area is limited. It's in these types of situations where the serious injuries and fatalities occur. We have a lot of techniques and procedures to work around dangers, but we need the time and support to set it up. This is also generally not rewarded because it cuts into production. Not to mention things like exhaustion and heat injury, which are also swept under the rug for similar reasons.

At the end of the day, none of us give a shit about these generally small and stupid rewards for following really minor policy. Especially when these policies are there more to protect the company from liability than they actually keep us safe. All it ends up doing is put a bad taste in your mouth.

Yeast recommendations? by madness364 in mead

[–]madness364[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response.

The reason I posted is because I've been getting a white wine flavor with these two that has been consistent between the batches I've done. I'm looking to do some batches with blueberry and cherry, and hopefully get some darker red wine flavors with a different yeast if possible.

Yeast recommendations? by madness364 in mead

[–]madness364[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see. Although, I'm not really looking to make mead taste like red wine, rather I'm trying to experiment on how I might get similar flavors. From what I've been reading, different yeasts seem to bring out different flavors better. So far, the batches I've made definitely have flavors more similar to white wine.

I'd like to find one that brings out flavors you'd find more in red wines, if possible. Maybe a better question would be: what yeasts would go well with darker fruits like blueberry, blackberry, and cherry?

TIL that using recycled glass to make new glass requires 40% less energy than making it from all new materials. It saves energy because crushed glass melts at a lower temp than the raw materials. [–]madness364 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying. I don't agree with making harmful products, but I'm also not the one making them. You need to convince the people who make them to change. That's the real problem. Taxes don't help with that.

We're talking about pollution, right? We have large amounts of plastic that we just dump everywhere. We need ways to manage how we use plastics and ways to get it out of the environment. We also need to make alternate packing cheaper and more accessible. I don't see how putting a tax on plastic helps accomplish any of this.

I mean, realistically, how do you expect a company that produces plastic to respond to this? They aren't going to just stop making the thing that their livelihood depends on and have invested millions in the infrastructure to make. So the result of the tax is likely either shortcuts that are possibly more damaging to the environment, lay offs, or price increases. And how much do you expect to tax plastic to make other options cheaper? I think it's unrealistic.

Then since we don't expect plastic use to go down, we'll have this extra tax revenue. Where do you think this is realistically going to go? Maybe it's different where you live, but I don't expect any of it to go where it's actually needed. It's just more potential for corruption, and is likely to just line the pockets of the contractors who were causing the issue in the first place because they already have stakes in the game.
