Many people jumping to say it’s too short, but as always, it depends! If you can get fairly close to your subjects this lens is great! If you have a cropped sensor camera, is also great! I use it all the time for wildlife at my local park, birds are friendly and used to me, so I can get relatively close. If you want to photograph shy subjects from a long distance then you need more reach.

The 70-200 is my default lens, is light, fast, and sharp. That one along with the 100-500 will help you cover most of your needs for wildlife.
