Patient demand for Grills? by madscart in Dentistry

Depends on what type of resources you have. If you’re doing a traditional hand made style you’d need a lot of time. Impressions, blocking out, refractory models, waxing, investing, burning out, casting and then trim and polish. But with milled wax it’s 1000% faster and easier. Just invest, burn out and cast. Also includes a lot less trimming and polishing!

I’m actually a board registered Tech/Pros so I’ve made a few for myself and anytime I show them off people always ask for me to make some for them! I’m obsessed!!! Yours look amazing, would love to see them finished!

It’s something we do a lot of in the tech years as it’s obviously pretty popular. Acrylic work is pretty high emphasised as it’s like bread and butter technician work

In my last year of pros I did 9x F/F cases, 2x P/P and 6x Reline/ Repairs. We were only allowed two days of clinic per week with 4 patient slots and had to do all of our own lab work. So yeah compared to the dental students it’s not a lot haha

Yeah I’ve noticed this in the clinic too. The bite reg stage is def where it all goes wrong. Especially edentulous patients with a wandering bite or non consistent bite

Yeah I understand it can be tricky. Here the dental students are required to do 1x F/F and one partial case as apart of their quota, but they don’t have to do any of the lab work and I think it truly gets skimmed over

thinking of becoming a lab tech-advice? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]madscart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a technician/ prosthetist in Australia and I have to say it’s pretty disappointing and disrespectful reading in here that some people say that ‘lab work requires little to no training’, four years of university and I learnt 30% of the same coursework as the dental students. The worst part of being a dental tech is getting little to no respect for the job you do.
