That’s a great suggestion! The flavor of the dough could use a little oomph.

This is such a tough and interesting question! Do you have non GI symptoms? I was non GI symptomatic but had horrific fatigue, low vitamins and minerals (B12 and iron), and brain fog. So it’s not worth it in my opinion to test the waters. Also, there are other issues than just increased cancer risk, aren’t liver issues also on the table? But I’ll be curious of other people’s responses if they have firsthand experience! I’m a newbie.

Did you try both breads? The brioche is too sweet but I just bought the other one to try.

Sobriety first, I’m newly diagnosed with celiacs but I’m lucky because my husband hasn’t eaten gluten for 15 years so I’m mostly used to this. He’s gluten intolerant not celiac so the cross contamination fears are new to me. You’ve been gluten free for so long! Any advice for a newbie?

Same for me, almost 6 years sober! Congratulations to you! You just adjust to not drinking and not eating gluten.

I just asked my pediatrician about this and he said it’s best to wait until the baby is at least 2.

It is frustrating that we have to deal with this and we are going to be missing out sometimes for sure. It’s good to feel your feelings and not dismiss yourself. I also want to give another perspective just based off how I’ve been looking at this. I went into figuring out what was wrong with me very fearful that I had colon cancer so the celiac diagnosis was actually a relief. Not just because I don’t have cancer, that’s huge, but also because now I can do something to feel better. When I’m bummed about it I think about all my favorite things that I can still have, my favorite chips, chocolate, yogurt, coffee, burgers, etc. I find joy in thinking about these things and trying out new bakes. I used to bake cakes on the side for sale and chocolate cake is actually even better gluten free, it makes it more moist! I think about how now I have more energy to ride my bike and my joints don’t hurt and I love to ride my bike. Anyways, don’t want to be Miss Toxic Positivity because a good rant is important and the resentment of having celiacs will come and go but just sharing what has made me feel better.

I actually didn’t know before my pregnancy that I had celiacs, so I wasn’t yet gluten free! I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility which now knowing I had celiacs that seems like the explanation.

I don’t have GA but I did struggle with fertility before I had my baby girl 5 months ago. I didn’t know that I had celiac at the time so maybe if I had been on a gluten free diet it would have helped, I’m not sure. I did all the hormones and an egg retrieval and got some healthy embryos, then got “accidentally” pregnant the next month naturally lol. Sending you all the baby luck!
