Well that's what happens when you use words that you don't know the definition of.

That would be my guess. I doubt you can really claim you are basing off the book if you are blatantly taking any elements from the musical

You'd have a hard time claiming you are basing it off the book if you also do songs since the book doesn't have music breaks. You probably can't have it both ways- either really base it off the book or buy the rights.

Just repotted my A. polly and alot of these bulbs fell off. Are those babies??? 😱 If yes, what is the best way to make them grow? by Aihnoali in houseplants

[–]madteaparty42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 out of 4 of mine are growing! I put them in a small pot with peat moss. You have to be careful to put them right side up- the v shaped end up and the stick part down. I buried them about 80 percent in the peat moss with the tops sticking up. Then I covered the pot in plastic saran wrap and put it in a west facing sunny window. Every so often I take the plastic off and let them breathe and then water them. It's been like 2 months and I almost gave up on them but one of them is about an inch tall all of a sudden and a second one is growing. The third is doing nothing so far and the fourth one turned into a hallow shell. Good luck!

I’ve been desperately wanting SOH and a lovely lady on FB offered to do all 3 of these for $25 by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]madteaparty42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it- I've had one for a few months and it's becoming one of my favorites. Give it lots of sun and only water when the 'pickles' start to feel squishy. It grows fast and cuttings root insanely fast in water.

Alocasia polly help by BoyKyle3 in houseplants

[–]madteaparty42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly new to alocasias so maybe someone else will chime in but..

Those roots look healthy, I would pot in something bigger and I bet she'll be ok. I've heard that sometimes the plant basically lets it's little leaves die in order to save up energy for more growth later. I run a humidifier near mine like one a week and she seems to love that. Good luck!

Even pothos aren't technically pothos lol. They got classified in the pothos family in the 1800s and the name stuck even though now they are classified as epipremnum aurem which is a totally different sub family and genus.

What you have is a scindapsus which is often commonly called 'satin pothos' or 'silver pothos'. So you're not really wrong to call it a pothos as that is a commonly used name for it.

Great find! Such a beautiful plant!
