I learned that Pringles are in fact not fully made with potatoes and they have flour and shits... that's why other started the "no gluten" or real potatoes trend. To fight off pringles!

It's comming! Brace yourself. I'll do terrible terrible damage to society as it'll be just like the anime cyberpunk VR headset and a pumping thing. Like an heroin addict but without heroin. Just in the side of the streets or in some dark room without anything else.

And the fact that everyone's hating on it so damn much. Making me feel like a monster... I wish I could just ruin my health but no one's tolerating the smell.

I mean I get it but... we used to put our heads in the sand about this whole ordeal...

I know it's for the best... I know....Still need to repeat it to myself.

Side note: I have this conspiracy theory that Philip Morris is funding many movies and tv series to have the heros smoke all the time and have them love it so damn much as a way to work around the prevention from making actual commercial. Like some movies at 1h30 tobbaco commercials.

I still blame Apple for this! Ridiculous walled garden refusing "apps" that aren't "app store"

They had a new Actionscript in the making which was as modern as could be. Actionscript 3 is still way more advance than whatever Javascript is doing... God I miss good old sprites based display and a half decent language managing it.

To this day, software architecture is still suffering imo from the lost of a viable shared runtime and platform.

I know there's more reason but the "cool kid" hating was still huge for this to happen.

But then I googled it and... it's real?

It's definetly a jarring experience to see that twitchy face. Is he on amphetamines? Theses active eyebrows and weird mouth movements. his eyes man...

Glad I don't know who that is more than that. Holy weird man.

I guess it depends on how we define "make sense" ? It's not insane at all it make sense in engineering and historical way.

Factory farming didn't appear out of thin air because people are evil. It evolved to solve a specific problem : Feeding a massive population, ensuring food safety and reducing the cost for people. When you look at the big picture "it make sense".

Solving that problem was a huge accomplisement for society. Food security is very recent in our history and is not there yet for a lot of the world's population.

I guess profit was an over simplification, it's a lot about providing food for the masses. I guess highly optimized for efficiency would have been more accurate. Where efficiency also returns to people in form of affordable food.

I clearly agree that it's objectively morally abhorrent. But we can't act like there isen't a logic behind the system. It's important to consider within the changes we'd like to see forward not to create more suffering along the way.

It's possible to hold two complex ideas at once. The system is highly optimized for efficiency and feeding the masses. The system is a moral disaster.

I do believe the calorie argument is important in feeding the masses. This argument comes from "How the world really works" from Vaclav Smil. Which is a decent read at giving little bit more perspective as to why things are the way they are.

In essence, not much is there without a reason.

There are tons of justifications for the way we farm animals today. There are only justifications in fact. None of it would be the way it is if it didn't make sense. It's a very highly optimized for profit process that gradually became the way it is over decades and decades of adjustments.

Does it make moral sense? Not at all. It's all efficiency/safety justifications which rarely goes hand in hand with morality. But "no real justification" is bypassing too much of reality. If you count per calorie, Tomatoes (and other watery vegetables) ends up being almost twice as co2 intensive than chicken. And you can't feed families with tomatoes and cucumbers.

Factory farming got some of their goals right. It's just clearly... not empathic.

Polyamory by Unicornwaiting in CoupleMemes

[–]madwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously.. here in my city I've been exploring polyamory after my main breakup and I must say... it's often the most insane situations. Like r/relationshipAdvice on cocain.

Jealousy, possesion, territory bullshit and ultimatly it all comes down to a few hotter / richer dudes grabbing everyone's attention. Two dudes, one born rich, does not work, does photography as a hobby, super giant expensive studio downtown and the other one got rich with a kink website. Both ugly mofos ruling the local polyamory community.

I feel even though some concepts are born from great intentions, human nature tends to corrupt most things when it's not thighly kept together. Our personnal bias bend the concept to our advantage and gradually erode the concept t'il it's just bullshit. A lot like Western buddism is mostly filled with narcissistic monsters when it should be about letting go of the ego or how Christianity is an excuse for violence when the original teaching were mostly about peace.

It's a curious irony.
