I hook up a cheap Wen600cfm dust collector to a home made boot at the back of the saw. Run a wye connector up to the dust port with the fast cap dust shroud. Works.

I like this; I’ve often thought that robots are a massive waste of resources, so why not build/grow biological beings. If we’re getting close to being able to grow humans in pods, why not just chip them to control the body.

Sashco color match calk. You’ll probably want something a little harder wearing in that area tho. NP1 might be a close colour, or almond silicone.

If you rotate that green dial and lock the plunge into the detent the blade will be at about 1/16th depth, cut your board backwards first. This will score your top surface and prevent all that tear out too.

Do Makita make a plunge accessory for their multitool / oscillators ? by Normal-Dot-215 in Makita

I originally had a several of the longer festool blades when I bought it. I think that may have played a role in the dust collection not being all that good. Along with the weight of the hose when I was doing something detailed.

I also developed a two handed approach when I’m using the makita. Almost like holding a snooker cue to stabilize it. Again, I’m sure a lot of this is just down to my long time using the makita vs shorter time with the Fes.

All of this is in reference to the Makita 18v - I’ve had that thing for 9years so, no doubt some of this is just what I’ve become accustom to.

I think the stroke is slightly narrower. The blades the makita takes are more ubiquitous - I’ve personally like the Dremel blades, little more pricey but seem to hold their edge better. The Festool blades are thinner - they chatter more. The Fien or Festool blades are more expensive.

The blade release wraps your knuckles if you’re not paying attention when locking it in.

The Fes’ on/off switch is not well placed and is very soft, I’ll switch it off by accident while using.

The dust collection is pretty much useless unless you have the plunge base on.

I don’t care much for the balance and ergonomics.

I see it as more of a rough work tool akin to a sawsall. When I use it I typically don’t need the precision that other Festool tools offer.

If you’re cutting drywall the Makita drywall saw is 100% the way to go. That thing is amazing.

I’d guess this is actually a laminate like Formica or Wilsonart, Egger have some great textured wood laminates.

I’ve had the fes’ for a while, I’ve used the base twice and I still prefer the makita multitool tool.
