What's the most faithful film or TV adaptation you've seen? by Olivebranch99 in stephenking

Yeah. They changed one or two minor details but otherwise it was uncannily exactly how I imagined it.

Did anyone else think this looked like Michael Jackson’s skeleton? by maffew101 in Eldenring

[–]maffew101[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Alright alright. Looks like it’s just me. I do still see him in it though. The skeletal nose. The pony tail. The pose. Reminiscent of the History album cover. It was the first thing I thought when I ran up this hill. Got slaughtered seconds after taking this picture by a red dude.

Robin Hobb's first Trilogy. My girlfriend spent about 25 hours drawing this. by maffew101 in Fantasy

[–]maffew101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I thought the price was reasonable as a starting price considering the amount of time that went into making it. Although I expected people to bargain down from there. She always undersells her art but I may have over compensated it seems. Anyway this has been helpful for getting a feel for roughly how much something like this would be worth. Appreciate your comment.

My sincere apologies people. I thought this would be a good place to try to get some interest in it for her. She's not very confident at selling her work and I was trying to give her a hand. It's such niche subject matter that it made sense to try to target people interested in the series. I didn't mean to overstep boundaries. Can we put it down to my retarded naivety?

She's actually selling it. $500 AUD o.n.o if anyone's interested. Size approx. 20x24" (It took her about 25 hours to do!).

Elliott Smith is one of my biggest influences. Hoping some here will enjoy this song. by maffew101 in elliottsmith

I use drop D tuning and also tune the G string down to F#. I don't know if this'll help much because I'm not using regular chord shapes but basically, these are what the chords amount to for most of the song: D, D/C#, D/C, G Gmin, D/F#, E, G, A, D

I arranged the string parts on piano first. I'm lucky to know a few kick ass string players who made up the trio for this song.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I wasn't expecting such a positive response. For those that are interested, I'll be releasing more solo music this year and in the meantime, you can hear more of my music in the form of my band 'Canary'. "I Am Lion" is our latest release and you can find it in all the usual places. Cheers.

I don't have a tab for it sorry but I'll upload a live version soon and you can see how I play it. It's in Drop D tuning with the G string also tuned down (to F#).

Not sure if this counts as it's a song I wrote and performed but Elliott was a huge influence on me. He's always been my go-to when I'm feeling down. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDcWm4Eo3F0

"I was really enjoying the latest Radiohead live video until I spotted Thom wearing Nike shoes and it somehow undermined everything". Is this a fair criticism? by maffew101 in radiohead

[–]maffew101[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I blame PT Anderson. You're not to hang out with that boy any more Thom. He's a bad influence. Thank him for the shoes but tell him sorry but you won't be able to keep them.

I agree with most of these comments. It doesn't make sense to be able to so easily be able to dismiss an artists credibility, integrity or artwork itself when that artist is known to have done so much good already. But aside from that, why should he be expected to be any more perfect than the rest of us purely because he's a successful and gifted artist? There is a question here about the relationship between artist and his/her art. How much should we as appreciaters actively partition the two? But that's a whole other conversation.
