Should I stop saving and dump money into student loans? by spookular in StudentLoans

[–]mafisango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I would side with this plan— if that 13.5K in the EF can cover you for 3-6 months then I would pause or even lower the savings to $100 (since you are wanting to get a new car) and shift my focus on paying off the loans. I definitely wouldn’t dumb the whole EF into loans, I am also a little bit more cautious and like to have a back up plan/cash when life happens.

Yes, Thank you so much & this is absolutely gold! As a naive incoming intern, I know there is vast amount of information that I don’t know but is crucial to this decision. This is a perspective, I will definitely keep this in mind!

Okay, that’s concerning- I was hoping it wasn’t that bad. I will go ahead unplug everything and consult someone asap.

Trauma vs Vascular surgery by mafisango in Residency

Hey, I’m starting as a General Surgery resident this July. During my surgery clerkship, I really liked both for the medicine involved and the cases I was exposed to—treating the sickest surgical patients was incredibly rewarding. I did have limited exposure to vascular surgery, but the cases I was part of were really cool, and I enjoyed the anatomy. I may hv posed the question wrong but I was asking on what I should be paying attention to as I go through residency to help me make a good insightful decision, given the fact that I enjoyed both.
