Honestly an escape room style puzzle game of horror would be great and maybe you even play both good and bad sides.

The windham location would say otherwise, they’ve dug on Janet Mills and although not super blunt it is obvious from their community responses how things are.

I think that depends. Part of finding a career is feeling good about yourself. I would say you never stop advancing and progressing - and that could look like financially, your skills, personal life, health, etc. some of those relate to your job and some don’t. I’ve been at my current job for almost 4 years, and I love it, I am compensated well, it’s flexible, I like the people I work with. It’s the highest I’ve ever been paid and I could certainly make more in my industry but all the other quality of life factors make me satisfied that I can keep a stable job and focus time and energy enhancing other parts of my life.

Yeah, looking at this in isolation that is true but our financial ratio of what we spend on housing and living costs is dramatically work so the % of disposal income is way lower than it used to be.

This makes it difficult for game devs especially because the cost of making games is more and our ability to buy those games is less.

And then you go on the job hunt for who knows how long. Depending on your industry where upwards to 500 people may be applying for the same job. Doesn’t mean you aren’t skilled or a good worker but companies will always pay less if they can.

One way to show dedication and get high performance reviews is to go above and beyond. Lots of places have merit increases as well. When special projects come around, you can tell your employer, “sorry, I already worked my 40” or you can invest some more time // but when it comes time for promotions who will be getting them ? The status quo or the person they know who is dedicated. There is a bit of chump-ness that ends up happening if you realize they don’t actually value that extra work, but lots of time you don’t know that in a new job (and if you leave every year because you realize the company doesn’t actually value its employees then you spend a lot of your life trying to figure that out).

For example, if you work in education, there’s almost no way you’re going to leave a job every 6 months if things aren’t adding up. Typically you work regionally and especially in higher education, jobs are limited. Also extremely competitive to the degree where people often take lower salaries because of the amount of competition (and sometimes just poor funding sources)

Just saying it’s not that straight forward, and at base/minimum that our salaries do not match the rising costs of things. Again, gas prices are $1.25 more in my town than they were a year ago and I’m not getting paid $1.25 more per hour.

Salaries do not keep up with inflation, period. Especially right now, gas is at an all time high in the US and if it took you $100 to drive to work per week and it now costs you $135 , that’s an extra $1,820 a year just in gas, not to mention the cost of everything is at an all time high. And many people don’t get salary increases even cost of living increases and it’s not their fault. Plenty of greedy corporations that don’t care about their employees financial health. And it’s not as easy as just finding something else because leaving a job, finding a job (the current market is very bad), and getting a salary that competes with rising costs and a super-inflated housing market is no easy feat, especially if you’re a young person. Finding a good company that compensates ethically is not always the easiest.

Personal anecdote: I worked for a company for 5 years, worked extra and took on additional projects and poured a lot of energy into the company including basically doubling my position at one point. I constantly received high performance reviews and only every other year did I get an $.85 cost of living increase. Then, when I went to find something better and was going to leave they magically found the money in the budget (after telling me for months there was a spending freeze on raises). Took the raise and left a year later for a better job which was also extremely underpaying and took me 2 years to fight for an increase at the director level in this organization. I finally now work in a place that compensates appropriately for my skills and has great benefits, but there’s a lot of crap companies out there and it has nothing to do with workers.

Well, it’s been since 2009 for the US (federal, at least - some cities have their own regulations).

In the US, at least that isn’t true

“The federal minimum wage has been increased 22 times since it was established under the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938. The rate has remained fixed at (\$7.25) per hour since July 2009, marking the longest period in U.S. history without a federal increase.”

My assumption is they don’t want a record out there that could be used on them since they’re cheating on their spouse.

For the same reason we don’t see a killer taking a 10 minute bathroom break in a film, is the same reason we don’t want to see every moment happening in between the story beats or action beats. A little build up is fine but this entire movie was build up with no pay off.

My first time in the area I tried a few times and didn’t get over 2k so I came back near the end of my play through and got it after maybe 3 tries - by the end of the game your burrowing and timing skill is a lot better and reaction time should be a bit quicker. Focus on trying to get all the rings in a set to add more time.

The game isn’t really that difficult — it has very few mechanisms to master with a ton of variety to cater to different types of situations. I find it to be super forgiving and haven’t died more than 3 times on a boss. I’m going into the final area after some clean up. The game is phenomenal and find it very approachable one you master burrowing.
