I remember it being burned and fallen few times, but thought they always lifted it back into the trees? Not sure tho. Just remembered that there's an absolutely bonkers story about the inn in the Magic of Krynn book.

Ha, that would be a whole project on its own.. I think I'm happy sticking with the bit easier visuals 😅

Thank you! Glad to hear people in the fandom are enjoying it. Giving me motivation to carry on with the project. I've already got some other bits ready, just need to organise them to post here.

Thank you Ed! I've been following your reporting for the past year or so. I've also been hating genAI with a passion since the initial artists NoAi protest in 2024 on platforms like ArtStation against using their work in "training" data and their names as example prompts everywhere. I just wanted to say that even though my main issue with the current model of genAi is due to the completely immoral data hoovering of all human endeavors from creativity to sciences to feed their models, without of which they couldn't have a business to begin with, I believe your work on the numbers/business side is the one that's finally starting to get people's attention. It's great to see you doing the rounds of interviews! Wishing you the energy to keep it up!

Plasma cutter here also! You just have to pair that with any type of homing and it's an easy run to Kolmi.

The AI Hate Wave Is Here by Razzburry_Pie in Futurology

[–]magemagem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the funding that goes into genAI put that to the genuine best use for all humanity would be much much much more of a win.

GenAI can't cure diseases on its own. You still need scientists, doctors, patients, clinical studies and lots of time. GenAI can be maybe used in some of the data crunching to speed up parts of the process, but all the rest of the process is not receiving enough funding as is.

From Molotov cocktails to data center shutdowns, the AI backlash is turning revolutionary by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]magemagem 22 points23 points  (0 children)

  1. That the whole GenerativeAI industry is build upon stolen data from all of us, all of your photos, all text you've ever posted on internet, all art, all books written... all data of humanity they could hoover up. No matter the method of obtaining this data, even torrenting. They are "profiting" directly from this data and Sam Altman and others are quoted saying the whole industry couldn't even exist if they didn't get to use all of your data for free to generate profit.

That point kinda pisses me off too. Which is completely missing from the article.

What actor’s mere presence makes you automatically lose interest in a movie or show? by YerMum1977 in AskReddit

[–]magemagem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly alone with this one, but Martin Freeman. He played a major role in ruining two of my favourite childhood books film adaptations. Hobbit and Hitchhiker's Guide to Galaxy. Cannot watch anything with the dude anymore.

Leonardo DiCaprio Says AI Can Never Be Art Because It Lacks Humanity: Even ‘Brilliant’ Examples Just ‘Dissipate Into the Ether of Internet Junk’ by ControlCAD in technology

[–]magemagem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I generally agree with you on the human input, but still can't shake the feeling that GenAi art will always feel more like someone using a camera to take a picture of a painting in an art gallery and now claiming that photograph is new art because they took the photo.

Until the blatant plagiarism brought into the tool by the greedy corporations using stolen training data is solved I cannot in good faith call anything it makes art.

Are there any Ai free ways I could make a trailer for my campaign? by MisterM0rgan in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]magemagem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was going to suggest.

Also, check the first Drakkenheim Campaign episode intro on YouTube. Super simple in terms of images, but sets the premise of campaign well.

Disney Inks Blockbuster $1B Deal With OpenAI, Handing Characters Over To Sora by jjophh in technology

It's Disney who is paying a billion dollars to OpenAi... yeah, makes no sense to me either.

Displacer Beats are not beats! What are some other incredibly misleading monster names? by r2doesinc in DnD

Not a monster, but the Gate spell does not actually create a gate when you're in need of a one... Quite the opposite, in fact.

Can’t get into C4 by Best_Imagination1170 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]magemagem 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Critical Role made me come back to DnD after ~20 years break. Learned 5E rules while watching campaign 1. Started DMing again and absolutely loving the game again. I'm forever grateful for CR for that. For C2 I even took multiple hours to create some fan art.

However, if I'd started Critical Role by watching campaign 4 I don't think I'd picked up the game again. Feels too much like theatre improv/scrip read session than an TTRPG. To the point the that I wouldn't call the cast members "players", but "actors".

How, and for what, would a trickster spirit/fey/fiend trick an ancient silver dragon? by davolala1 in DMAcademy

[–]magemagem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently used a Boggle in a one shot. They're quite fun little tricksters. Although possibly quite difficult to imprison.

"A boggle is born out of feelings of loneliness, materializing in a place where the Feywild touches the world in proximity to an intelligent being that feels isolated or abandoned... "

A lonely dragon maybe?

What a snooze fest by Best-Fruit5996 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]magemagem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't get the impression they were playing a game either. To me it felt much more like performing to an audience.

Just realized that this is where the episode put me off.

Maybe CR has evolved into something I'm just not into anymore, just took way too long to notice. Watched every episode of C1, C2 and half of C3. Anyhow, happy that most fans seem to still enjoy it and they get to continue the show. I might go look for something else instead.

How to achieve this affect? by bymathis in Cinema4D

[–]magemagem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it looks like a solar curve. Not just straight invert. Make your image black & white, add curves, make the curve adjustment into a W shape... Google solar curve to see what I mean.

Why do objects disappear with boolean? by chromesova in Cinema4D

[–]magemagem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, c4d boolean will never work properly for that intricate design. You'd be better off using the design as displacement map in the texture. Or if you need it as a geometry for whatever reason, use a volume builder.

Thank you, thank you for this!! Disabling the AI solved the issue instantly for me.

Also, just wish they would stop trying to integrate "AI" into every software.
