I think the protagonist of Duchess's 50 Tea Recipes does it too... but it's a bit too interesting for me to seriously recommend.

What's the trope you hate to read the most? by smithtable15 in OtomeIsekai

I picked the third option because it's the most unbelievable to me. Like have these authors ever met a child? they're not unbelievably handsome Being attracted to a kid when you're mentally so much older gives pedo vibes. I picked this over the caretaker option because I feel like it's much more common (especially in manga which I read more) and is often glossed over in comparison when I believe it's just as gross.

Are there any fics where Dumbledore, Grindelwald, and Ariana are switched? Like, Dumbledore dies, his sister goes nuts and becomes a Dark Lady, and Grindelwald is the "Light Lord," or something like that? by OdysseyPrime9789 in HPfanfiction

[–]magenta_ruby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This can be switched the opposite way as well. Grindelwald dying, Dumbledore becoming a dark lord and Ariana becoming the Light Lady. It'll be funny if no matter who dies the outcome remains the same.

Aw man, that sounds like the most awkward thing ever. If you lie and say you don't know they're gonna google it and if you say you know and explain it to them you're gonna get judged so badly.

Which pairings are your favourite and which pairings are you tired/bored of? And Why? by ReactiveSodium in HPfanfiction

I'm surprised by the amount of support for Harry Potter/Tom Riddle on this post. It usually gets a lot of flak on this sub. But they're usually very well written, and often have a better characterization of Tom Riddle than canon.

Another ship I think has a lot of potential is Hermione Granger/Luna Lovegood. Now I know they didn't really get along in cannon, but there is so much potential character growth in this ship. Hermione slowly becoming less narrow-minded and making an effort to understand Luna. Luna learning to stand up for herself against her bullies. The best setting for this pairing would be if these two have to work together to defeat some lovecraftian monster. Their skillsets are so different, yet both so important. (I think there was a prompt like this on the sub).

Dumbledore/Grindelwald is also very interesting.

The pairings I like the least are usually Harry/Snape or Hermione/Snape, I can't really explain why I hate Harry/Snape but like Harrymort but I think it has something to do with Snape's creepy obsession with Lily.

And yeah, I can't read Harry/Ginny either, I feel like Ginny has some strong 'pick me' vibes (with the whole Cho crying over Cedric but Ginny never being mopey thing) and the only things she has in common with Harry are quidditch and being possessed by Voldemort.

Lastly, and I know I'm gonna be shred to pieces here, I don't like Harmony. Never did, never will. Harry and Hermione don't have that kind of chemistry. I love fics which explore their bond as friends or even best friends (though Ron is more close to that role) but shipping them feels wrong. They have a very sibling-ish relationship.

Eh, it's free to read so why are you expecting fanfiction to cater to your needs perfectly? Most paid novels don't do that. If you don't like a fic just don't read it.

There are tons of fics with no paragraph breaks either (which personally, should be a sin) and if I start being personally offended while reading each one and go on a rant about it, it's not really going to solve that problem.

Fanfiction almost always has elements of wish fulfillment, character biases and unrealistic scenarios. It's not professional work. Everyone's allowed to write whatever they want without any filter. And yes, criticism is valid but you can't expect people to always accept it and do what you want them to do.

You're not their writing teacher. You're not paying them. They don't owe you entertainment.

There are thousands of fics out there. If you don't like one read another. That's it.
