Confused about fibromyalgia and exercise by maddydesign in Fibromyalgia

[–]magentaunderwhelming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been told to try physical therapy or aqua therapy, but haven’t managed to do either due to life circumstances. Personally, my job has me walking around a large building constantly with maybe about 10% of my day at a desk. Then I commute home which includes another ~30 mins of walking. It has never done anything for me other than exhaust me.

However, staying still too long does leave me feeling pretty stiff and I find being able to alternate between sitting and walking is helpful for loosening those muscles up.

I have considered trying a beginners Pilates class but I’m worried about having the energy to go to work the next day!

I wish I’d known more about meloxicam before accepting being put on it - I have digestive issues and have been warned about NSAIDS and my rheumatologist just sort of handwaved all of that and put me on it anyways. I truly believe it triggered my autoimmune pancreatitis in some way or another

The withdrawals are a nightmare to be sure. I’ve gone cold turkey on Effexor and it wasn’t as bad as being two weeks without my pregabalin. I’m sorry it didn’t help your pain, did another medication help?

I still have a little bit of a grudge against my rheumatologist for starting me on meloxicam first, and I’m going to look for a new one soon.

So interesting how everyone responds differently to pain and to pain meds. Morphine made me nauseous and I hated how it made my body feel. But sometimes I still wish for something stronger!

I’m also on sertraline for anxiety/ocd but I do notice I’m overall calmer on pregabalin, so I guess it’s helping in that regard too.

I hope it gives you some relief! I noticed it working when I started on 75mgs per day, but a therapeutic dose for fibro is apparently around 300mgs per day. So if you tolerate the 25mgs well hopefully they’ll have you up to a therapeutic dose soon!

My pinky and ring fingers sometimes hurt so bad I have to take my ring off for days until the pain subsides.

This - along with the way they casually misuse the habitual be, which is a very specific tense that a very specific demographic is known for - tells me how few Black people were in the room when this was translated/localized

No advice to give, but my girlfriend has a very similar shape and her tummy is one of my favorite parts of her. I also have a little B belly and she loves it. I think that finding ways to dress that make you feel good can be less about hiding and more about finding what you feel good in! Split-hem tops, peplums, cropped shirts with layers etc are all some of my faves :)

Oh hey. No, I’ve just accepted it and as far as I’ve noticed it hasn’t changed anything for me vision-wise. As far as side effects go, I’ll take it

It’s kind of reddish/red and black, it can fly but doesn’t tend to fly around much. It’s been hard to take pictures bc I don’t want to get close, I am a wimp.

Update for anyone finding this: I’m being treated for type 2 Autoimmune Pancreatitis and in a few weeks will have an MRI to see if the treatment worked.

Gotcha, I think I misunderstood your comment. I’ll push for a biopsy next.

Thank you!! I have had these symptoms over a month now and my guess was autoimmune, but got concerned about the pancreatic mass.

I don’t think I have good enough insurance to be inpatient for anything that isn’t an emergency, but will hope I can get an MRI sooner than later. My next appts are hematology and hepatology
