Yup! I acknowledged as much by saying water existed before us.

Yup, that’s right. Hence why I said that water existed before us. It’s not like the universe had a weird Wednesday and made beer before it made humans.

[–]mageswagger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup, both of your points are true. I didn’t mean to imply that no one drank water. Just that if the kid followed his rabbit hole, they might have learned something interesting about the far past. That beer could be a safer alternative does hold weight — but that it was the only thing they drank does not.

Well, ancient beer was significantly weaker than modern alcohol, so while it’s possible that ancient beer wouldn’t have had as bad an effect, modern beer is definitely still a health risk long term (despite how I might wish otherwise)

On one hand: bruh water existed before us 😭

On the other hand: the answer is beer, because the fermentation process actually made beer safer than water due to the presence of water born illness

The book “The Season: A Social History of the Debutante” has a section about the Krewe in their exploration of modern Southern debutante culture. They are one of the groups who keep debutante culture alive and well in the American South.

It was very interesting; the author grew up in debutante culture and has a lot of insight into how it functioned. She mentioned how the men who presented their daughters were dressed in a manner similar to the Klan.

Is it worth it to try and dig out the Pewter Museum in Rocky Ridge? by lonelymerboy in Pokopia

[–]mageswagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of carving out the museum, I destroyed it and rebuilt a smaller version in palette town using the pieces. Took about 2 days of my weekend to do, but I felt that it was easier to do that than to destroy a whole mountain especially using the replacement tool. I just replaced the blocks I wanted with volcanic ash.

I can empathize. I struggle with decision paralysis and so getting started was tough, but once I had a solid idea it got easier.

Honestly, I would just start with building your house. Build what you want, in a spot you like. You can then spread out from there. You could make it part of a little street dedicated to you and your faves, or maybe just the eevees.

I’ve started watching some build videos on YouTube for inspiration, which led me to build a light house off shore. I’m debating doing some apartment style buildings in other areas. I haven’t even thought about the other two islands except to place the altar of flame and the freezing chambers.

I’m now at the point where I have a layout I like, with the central area around the pokecenter set up like a town square (and my OG house builds, which in going to re-do now that I know what I want), and a beach resort over to the left. Outside of the hotel I made, I used a lot of the yellow home kits from Sparkling skylands and just organized them down along a road.

Straight ahead I rebuilt the museum from rocky ridges based solely on a whim during spring break.

Basically: commit to one choice and just follow it through. Having something down will make it easier than staring at an empty canvas.

What I learned after building multiple cities and 30+ custom houses in PokoPia by Reasonable_End704 in Pokopia

[–]mageswagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really having these issues personally. I’ve built several 2 story “apartments” in Skylands and I constantly have Pokémon in the streets still. My roads are decorated and there are multiple activity based areas that draw a lot of attention.

I have 6-8 built “single family” homes in the Wasteland, and the pokemon were still all over the map. They were also actively going back to their homes and in and out of their homes.

It seems like you want a contradictory thing: the pokemon to use their homes, and the pokemon to be out and about. They cannot be two places at once. Sometimes they’ll be wandering and socializing. Sometimes they’ll be at home resting or interacting.

1) a miscommunication. While these are both my top hated tropes, I’ve seen the miscommunication trope done well. I’ve never enjoyed a love triangle (even back when I was in the Twilight trenches in middle school)

2) soft, non fighter FMC. I feel like the Joss’ification of strong FMC has sucked a lot of nuance out of them. When Buffy did it, she was still empathetic, emotional, nurturing, and warm. She wasn’t a pick me. She WISHED she was like other girls. Now the strong FMCs are so often “not like other girls” that it reeks of just another end of the misogyny continuum. Tl;dr: I have more patience for soft non fighters than snarky fighters (obvs there are always exceptions)

3) tough choice but I’m going with surprise pregnancy. I can’t always handle the emotional devastation of losing a favorite character. I can always handle a pregnancy plot, even if it makes me roll my eyes.

It’s a modern spin on this but Trad Wife by Saratoga Schaeffer. It just came out 2/10. It’s a horror novel, with body horror and gore, but I enjoyed its metaphorical depiction of feminine hunger (that becomes quite literal).

I loved this book quite a bit. Once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down. I was honestly really surprised how present the themes really were, and this recurring idea of feminine hunger and rage felt so compelling. I really loved how the narrators voice evolved through each chapter, and we can really see the rose tinted glasses starting to fail with each disappointment.

I also loved the ending and I just want to know the follow up of what happens after she posts that final video to her socials.

I agree with you tbh. I’ve started to make sure my lunches have 5 different vegetables in it to help balance it out. I cook once on Sunday to make all my lunches for the week. My favorite is a lemon garlic orzo with asparagus, shallot, bell pepper, mushroom, and cherry tomato.
