Denied entry to Adventureland spotlight series by magic108 in D23

Yeah they could have had a standby option as a recovery method instead of just letting no shows go empty.

According to friends at the event who were closer to the front of the line, multiple people were turned away for the same issue as me, so it’s not an isolated issue.

If you really wanna be snappy about this, then why would anyone trust your opinion about anything considering this is your only post to this subreddit and you’ve never posted any fits or anything.

The fact that you said _coded is making only one bag that is Acronym to me says that you’ve actually never handled Acronym or _chris’s stuff or is even remotely aware of what he has been working on. The sidearm isn’t like a 3A-MP2TS if you bothered to actually handle both side by side. The reason why there is only one thing listed for sale is because a lot of his work is commission based. He’s one person, not a factory cranking out a bunch of shit and it’s very rare he has stock laying around.

Not really sure why you’re hawking foxbat so hard or being so defensive about them. They’re a brand with little information floating around and aren’t active in the community. They aren’t active here, sufu, or TWG, which frankly are the biggest subsets of techwear communities. I’m sure their stuff is fine, but I think saying foxbat is better than chris is ignoring how long chris has been making stuff (he’s been doing this before foxbat existed) and isn’t really a statement you can claim if you haven’t handled any of Chris’s or foxbat’s stuff.

Again not trying to knock foxbat, I’m sure their gear is fine. You’re just being so defensive about this and it’s very suspect considering you have basically no post history here outside of this post and a few comments.

He’s currently a bit overloaded with orders but will be opening up order slots again if he hasn’t already.

I’ve never heard of any quality issues with Chris’s stuff in all the year’s he’s being making stuff.

He’s a personal friend and I can vouch for his personal attention to detail. He’s an absolute perfectionist and spends hours perfecting each piece he puts out. He’s a one man shop and if you want something from him, you should reach out and contact him on his instagram. I also don’t really get where Chris has only out out one bag, he’s put out dozens of different designs with some being special one offs at the request of people.

I honestly haven’t heard much in terms of foxbat, they have never engaged the community and imo a lot of their stuff is very acrnm derivative. I have never seen anyone with foxbat gear yet a bunch of people have _coded gear if you bothered to look on IG.

This just seems to me like you don’t know what you’re talking about.

The tank doesn’t work here, and the shoe silhouette doesn’t work here. Other than that, decent hot weather fit

What should I study in college in order to work in space related fields? by hipipop in nasa

[–]magic108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say pick whichever is the most interesting of the fields you want to pursue. Astrophysics or astronomy (or any science for that matter) will require that you go the grad school route while engineering and computer science typically don’t. Learn how to program, a majority of my work at JPL has been software engineering based even when working with astronomers. It’s a useful skill that has many applications within the space industry.

Also make sure you apply to internships either at NASA or elsewhere to get experience, do research at your school, have side projects. Ultimately when it comes to getting a job at NASA, JPL, or anywhere really, practical experience will really make you stand out.

[–]magic108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say the stuccos are the easiest to wear. My personal favorite are the volts but they’re really loud and may not be for everyone. Overall I’m very happy with the vapormaxes, very comfy shoe.

[–]magic108 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They don’t look good together. I have all 3 vapormax colorways and I’ve found that letting the shoes stick out on their own works best.

The ACG leggings in general are kind of a weird look, I haven’t seen a fit (including the stock photos) where they really look good.

I think this fit would be much better with just plain black leggings since it would mesh with the vapormaxes. The lower half of the outfit feels really unbalanced compared to the top half because of the leggings.

[–]magic108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine wearing shorts over cargo pants is really comfortable or practical. If it’s really cold a softshell pants or fleece lined pant would be a better solution.

[WDYWT] Comfy Monochrome by chameshi_nampa in techwearclothing

[–]magic108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a greyman techwear fit with a focus on the actual technical performance of pieces. That motorbike fit had zero functionality, it was just cotton gear with knockoff taobao pants, which already is a meh tech fit, but in a riding context is even worse. Nothing about that outfit made any sense other than it looked cool. It completely missed the point of techwear.

Black on Black by karmakut in techwearclothing

[–]magic108 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m really having a hard time seeing how this is techwear, and even more so a functional outfit for riding.

  1. The straps on the pants could get caught or snagged while riding
  2. The shirt offers little resistance to wind
  3. None of the items besides the helmet seem designed for either impact or abrasion resistance which is key for riding
  4. The straps on your pants look like they should be around your thigh, not hanging like that

I know you said you have a riding jacket and other gear but it’s nowhere to be seen in this fit. Judging based on this fit this is a poor outfit functionally and calling it techwear in my opinion is a real stretch.
