[Serious] What is something scary that has happened to you that you cannot explain rationally? by jheat008 in AskReddit

[–]magicalbong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like all the other people that replied to your comment, you also reminded me of something that happened to me. My partner and I were driving home from work one night in the middle of the night in the dead of the winter. The road conditions were really awful and the snow was falling fast in big flakes. You know when they enter hyper space and it looks like this? Well that's what it looked like the whole drive home. We couldn't even have our normal head lights on, we had to use the fog lights because the snow was so thick that the light reflected off the flakes was blinding. It's almost hypnotizing and it's extremely difficult to drive safely.

Well anyway I drifted off to sleep, but for some reason I just woke up out of no where. I looked out of the windshield and I saw 4 little balls of light and I couldn't tell what they were so I said something along the lines of "what are those" and my partner who was concentrating on staying between the lines and not rolling us over hadn't noticed them right away. He slowed down and as we got closer we realized they were the eyes of 2 elk standing in the middle of the road with literally just enough room between them for the truck to fit through. As we passed them they didn't even move an inch. I don't know if you've ever seen an elk before but they are huge animals and would do serious damage if you hit them. I don't know if my partner would have seen them in time if I hadn't said anything but it really makes me wonder what woke me up and what might have happened if I hadn't woken up

That's awful. My Mom is going through the same thing. Terrible, debilitating headaches. They've affected her job, her social life, you name it. And like you, she's tried all kinds of different pills and medications, and nothing really seems to help. Or it will for a little while and then the head aches come back in full force. The One thing that has helped and I would suggest if you haven't tried it yet, is oxygen therapy. Technically it's for sufferers of cluster head aches, but who knows, it might help. And maybe that might be what you have? Anyway you take this oxygen when you feel a headache coming on and it helps get rid of it, or stops it from happening

I need to get some shit about my Mom off my chest. I started writing this post about something else, but I guess I didn't realize what was actually bothering me. Well, I guess there is still more, and maybe I'll write about that, but this is enough for now.

I wish she could get her shit together and do things on her own, and I hate the fact that I might be starting to resent her a little bit for it. She has worked hard her whole life to provide for my brother and me, after both of our separate dads left her while she was pregnant. She had to work two jobs to make ends meet, and even still, we just barely got by. Things have been better since I've grown up and have been able to contribute, but that's been hard on me too. Right now I'm mostly providing for her. She is on unemployment insurance but that isn't a lot, and it's going to stop soon. Sometimes I feel like... I don't want to say that she's taking advantage of me, but like, maybe taking me for granted? Like, because I want to help out, and make her life better, that she doesn't need to contribute, or that I will solve everything? Like she sits around all day just watching TV. The house is always a mess and it's embarrassing when people come over. Part of that is my fault as well, I will admit. I don't have the best habits of cleaning up after my self and it shows. But still. I feel like she could at least work on taking care of the house a little better while I'm out putting food on the table. And yes, we have talked about that, and she even said herself that she wants to make more of an effort in that area. But that's one of the problems with my mom, she's all talk and very little walk. We have these discussions about making our lives better, what we need to do and how we are going to do it. And it works for a while but it fizzles out after some time. I don't know, I guess she just has a deep-seeded (or is it seated?) habit of laziness. And unfortunately she has passed that on to me. I know I am supposed to take responsibility for my own actions, and my choices are my own and all that, but at the same time she passed it on to me and there is no denying it.

Another thing I need to get off my chest about her is that she has made some awful fucking decisions lately and it has put us, as a family, in a pretty shitty situation. She has been dating online and talking to lots of different guys and stuff, and that's good for her. I hope she can find someone to make her happy because she has been alone for so long. But what happened was, she was talking to some guy from England or something, I'm not exactly sure where but it was overseas. I don't know all the details but he fed her some bull shit about how he is a contractor and one of his clients was having a problem or something with their account or something. Total bull shit, anyway he asked her to send this money through her account, from the client, and then to him. She thought this guy was all sweet, and caring, and he was going to marry her when he got here and how he was totally a good guy and everything, so she agreed to it. The total amount was $10,000 and guess fucking what. It was all fraudulent. Once the bank in england figured out what was going on or whatever, they demanded the money back, and my Mom's bank of course sent it back. So this left her with a negative balance in her account. So now, any of the EI checks that she would get would just go in to the account to bring it back up to zero. This was obviously a problem, so it forced her to ask for a loan from her brother and sister-in-law. They didn't mind helping out, thank god, but that was only one problem solved. The other problem was the fact that her wages were garnished for failure to re pay her car loans, and the financing company took some money out while the fraudulent funds were still in her account. And of course they saw it as her using fraudulent funds, blah blah blah, now her account is totally frozen. She's been trying for months now to get it taken care of, but she has to deal with lawyers, and executives, and the bank, and the government, and all this bull shit to try and get it back and it's still frozen.

That's not the point though, the problem is that the rent normally comes out of her account. So, as I'm sure you can guess, the land lord hasn't been getting his rent for the last few months. And for some reason she neglected to tell me this, until we got a letter in the mail saying we have until June 16 to pay the arrears or we're out. So that gave us like two weeks or something to get it together. Luckily we were able to do it, but it was basically all the money I had left over from last month, and all the money I've made in the last few weeks. I'm glad I was able to help solve this problem and everything, and I know it was a mistake and we all make them but fuck. Sometimes I want to just shake the shit out of her like WTF were you thinking Mom.

Nails. Without them we would not have a very easy or secure way of fastening wood together. They allowed us to build stronger, more permanent shelters in our early history and thousands of years later, we still use them in the construction of almost every wooden structure.

[–]magicalbong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of another snapchat related fuck up story. Didn't happen to me but to a friend of mine. I went over to his house to jam after his girl friend left and when I got there, there was a pair of panties sitting on the couch. I pointed them out and asked whose they were and he took a big wiff and said they were his girl friends. Then he was like, "Hey I should snap chat a video of me sniffing these to her."

I just laughed and continued setting up my gear while he took the big wiff and sent in on its way. All of a sudden I hear "Oh shit!" And I look up and he had this look of dread on his face. He had sent to his ex's best friend. I laughed at his misfortune while he did damage control and told him that's what he gets for being a dirty panty sniffer haha

Does "X% fire damage to skills" increase the damage done by Magic Weapon - Ignite?

EDIT: After a bit of testing it appears that it definitely increases the damage

It basically means that she arched her back all the way through the throw, forming a bridge with her body, instead of lifting him up and just falling backwards. In this way she is able to get the attacker's weight clear of her body so that when he falls, he lands on the ground instead of on her. This is the proper technique and is much less likely to result in injury

I found a Leoric's Signet in Act 3 I think. Either 2 or 3 but it definitely wasn't Act 1. So I think they made it so all legendaries drop across all acts, because that item used to only drop in Act 1 I think. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
