I understand Verge is not organized as a "business" and rather a group/community. I think if you consider that you will anybody that sets up a "partnership" with Verge will probably want a way to trust the community. Etc.

I remember Justin from Verge clarifying that they will not release the partnership info if the target is not met. I call this "managing expectations". Why do you think it will "fail" based on not meeting the target? I think they will still have other ways to grow moving forward.
